1971-72 Men’s Basketball Team – Coached by CSU-Pueblo legend and Hall of Famer Harry Simmons, the 1971-72 men’s basketball team posted a 19-9 (10-2 RMAC) record, won the program’s first overall Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title and advanced to the NCAA College Division II quarterfinals after winning the NCAA West Regional, which still stands as the furthest a CSU-Pueblo men’s basketball team has advanced in the NCAA tournament … Compiled a 12-3 home record, which included a perfect 6-0 mark in RMAC play … Three players were named All-RMAC at the conclusion of the season, while the team also touted two CoSIDA Academic All-Americans … Two players earned NCAA Division II All-West Regional Tournament Team … Cal Tatum, a member of the inaugural class of  the CSU-Pueblo Athletic Hall of Fame, was a junior on the team.
