Ruby and Pelletier Earn All-RMAC Baseball Honors

Ruby Named First-Team Selection, Pelletier Tabbed Second-Team Selection

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo had two players earn All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors in baseball on Wednesday afternoon as the league announced its All-RMAC Baseball Teams.

The ThunderWolves named All-RMAC selections were senior pitcher Luke Ruby (Fort Collins, Colo./Resurrection Christian), who was tabbed a first-team selection, while junior third baseman Jimmy Pelletier (Laval, Quebec/University of San Francisco) was named a second-team selection by the league's head coaches.

The league's nine head coaches nominated and voted for the All-RMAC team and awards, and the coaches weren't permitted to vote for their own players.

Ruby earns First-Team All-RMAC honors as a starting pitcher after finishing the regular season with a 2-1 record and a 4.38 ERA in 12 appearances and seven starts. In 49.1 innings, he has allowed 58 hits and 29 runs (24 earned runs), while striking out 33 and walking 19. He was third on the team in innings pitched (49.1), fourth on the team in strikeouts (33), and his 12 appearances are fourth on the team. He tossed five or more innings in six of his 12 outings and had five or more strikeouts in five appearances, including a season-high five strikeouts against Regis and Adams State. In RMAC play, he posted a 1-1 record and a 5.60 ERA in eight appearances, six of them starts. In 35.1 innings, he allowed 47 hits, 26 runs (22 earned runs), while striking out 19 and walking 14.

Ruby, who is the Pack's lone first-team All-RMAC selection, was joined on the first team by MSU Denver junior catcher Noah Wicks, Regis sophomore first baseman Ethan Wood, UCCS senior second baseman Bryce Peterson, redshirt junior shortstop Trevor Dale, Mines redshirt junior Evan Bilter, Colorado Mesa infielder Kennedy Hara, redshirt junior outfielder Brody Duvall, Colorado Mesa redshirt freshman outfielder Ezra Farmer, Colorado Mesa senior outfielder Kolby Felix, Colorado Christian sophomore outfielder Gregory Rangel, MSU Denver senior designated hitter Royce Vandine, Colorado Mesa freshman starting pitcher Jackson Eisenhauer, Colorado Mesa redshirt senior Caleb Ruter, MSU Denver junior starting pitcher Jake Syverson and Colorado Mesa senior relief pitcher Sage Ferguson.

Pelletier earns Second-Team honors at third base after leading the Pack in hitting with a .410 batting average and recording 48 hits, scoring 44 runs, hitting 14 doubles, and leading the team in home runs with nine, and had 45 RBI and drew 13 walks in 117 at-bats. He tallied 13 multi-hit games and tied for the team lead in multiple RBI games with 12. In RMAC play, Pelletier hit .440 with 37 hits, 37 runs scored, 14 doubles, eight home runs and 37 RBI in 27 league games.

Joining Pelletier on the All-RMAC Second-Team were redshirt senior catcher Rocco DiFrancesco, UCCS redshirt sophomore first baseman Tyler Genrich, Regis sophomore second baseman Ayden Harrison, Colorado Mesa redshirt freshman Trevor Tse, MSU Denver junior shortstop Brayden Oram, MSU Denver redshirt junior third baseman Jared Swarbrick, Colorado Mesa junior infielder Joey Blank, MSU Denver redshirt junior Lathen Buzard, Colorado Mesa senior outfielder Cameron Cartwright, Regis redshirt junior Jack Moulin, MSU Denver redshirt senior outfielder Brooks Rasmussen, Adams State freshman designated hitter Osaias Hinojosa, New Mexico Highlands senior starting pitcher Ramon Brion, Colorado Mesa junior starting pitcher Rafael Espinoza, MSU Denver senior starting pitcher Alejandro Maltros-Garcia, Colorado Christian graduate student starting pitcher Brady Ritzman, MSU Denver redshirt junior relief pitcher Carter Swan and Colorado Mesa redshirt freshman Jett Walker.

In the RMAC individual award winners, Felix was named the RMAC Player of the Year, while Eisenhauer was named both the RMAC Pitcher and RMAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year, and Hinojosa was named the RMAC Freshman Player of the Year. Colorado Mesa's Chris Hanks was named the RMAC Coach of the Year after leading the Mavericks to their 14th consecutive RMAC regular season title, a 45-4 overall record, a 31-1 mark in RMAC play, and a No. 2 national ranking in the latest
ABCA Division II Coaches' poll.

The Pack was one of seven schools in the league to earn multiple All-RMAC selections and one of seven to have at least one first-team selection. Colorado Mesa led the way with 11 overall selections, including a league-high six first-team honors. In addition to Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver had nine players recognized, including three first-team selections, while UCCS and Regis had three overall selections, and Colorado Christian and CSU Pueblo each had two selections. Mines had two selections, and Adams State and New Mexico Highlands had one player selected.

CSU Pueblo (26-24 overall, 18-14 RMAC), which is seeded fourth in the RMAC Tournament, will open tournament play on Wednesday, May 6, with a 3 p.m. game at The Diamond in Grand Junction, Colo., against No. 3 seeded UCCS (32-17-1 overall, 21-10-1 RMAC). The double-elimination tournament runs through Saturday, May 10, and the winner of the tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Baseball South Central Regional Tournament.
