Ruby Named Second-Team NCBWA All-South Central Region Selection

GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo senior starting pitcher Luke Ruby (Fort Collins, Colo./Resurrection Christian) has been named a Second-Team All-South Central Region selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) as announced by the organization on Friday afternoon.

It marks the third consecutive season that the Pack has had an NCBWA All-South Central Region selection as Tyler Curtis was named a first-team honoree as a pitcher in 2024 and Christian Castaneda and Travis Farrell were tabbed as first-team honorees as a first baseman and starting pitcher respectively in 2025.

The NCBWA All-South Central Region teams were voted on by a committee of eight members with four from the RMAC and four from the Lone Star Conference. The Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year were voted as separate categories. All first team members advance to the ballot for the 2026 NCBWA Division II All-America Team, which will be announced next week.

Ruby earns his Second-Team NCBWA All-South Central Region selection after being named a First-Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) selection this season. On the season, Ruby ranked third on the team in both innings pitched (53.0) and strikeouts (36) and was tied for fifth in appearances with 13. He also made eight starts and was 2-2 with a 5.09 ERA and recorded just 20 walks.

During the recently completed 2026 season, Ruby had five or more strikeouts in six of his 13 outings, including a season-high five strikeouts against Regis and Adams State. In RMAC play, he posted a 1-1 record and a 5.60 ERA in eight appearances, six of them starts. In 35.1 innings, he allowed 47 hits, 26 runs (22 earned runs), while striking out 19 and walking 14.

CSU Pueblo was one of six RMAC schools to have at least one player selected to one of the two NCBWA All-South Central Region Teams. Colorado Mesa led the way with six overall selections, including five first-team selections. In addition to Colorado Mesa, MSU Denver had three selections, including a first team and two second team honorees, while Colorado School of Mines and UCCS both had two overall selections, both of which were first-team honorees. Overall, 15 different programs from the region had players named to one of the two All-Region Teams.

Along with announcing the All-South Central Region Teams, the NCBWA also announced the region's Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Coach of Year honorees and this year's honorees were Colorado Mesa senior outfielder Kolby Felix was named the Player of the Year, while Colorado Mesa freshman Jackson Eisenhauer was named the Pitcher of the Year and Colorado Mesa's Chris Hanks was named the Coach of the Year.

Ruby helped lead the Pack to a 27-26 overall record and was fourth in the RMAC with an 18-14 record. The Pack went 1-2 at the RMAC Tournament with the lone win being a 9-8 10 inning victory over top-seeded and No. 2 ranked Colorado Mesa.
