WINDSOR, Colo. – The Northern Colorado Owlz of the Independent Baseball Pioneer League; a MLB Partner League, have announced the acquisition of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year;
Tyler Curtis (Las Vegas, Nev./Southern Idaho).
Curtis during his senior season racked up many awards including, RMAC Pitcher of the Year, All-RMAC First Team, and the NCBWA All-South Central Region Team. Curtis led the RMAC in wins with nine and complete games with three. Curtis had the best ERA in the conference in the regular season in 82 2/3 innings pitched. Curtis was the ace for a ThunderWolves team that finished the season 29-23.
Curtis joins a Northern Colorado Owlz squad of the Pioneer League. The Pioneer League is a professional baseball league based in the Western United States. Outside of Minor League Baseball, the Pioneer League is one of the highest professional leagues, and is one of four Major League Baseball Partner Leagues in the American independent baseball league system.
The Owlz were founded in 2021 and play in Windsor, Colo. at 4Rivers Equipment Stadium. The Owlz are coming off a 46-49 season in the Pioneer League. Curtis joins the squad just in time for the conclusion of Spring Training and the beginning of the regular season which begins today.
The Owlz kick off their season tonight on the road against the Ogden Raptors at 6:30 PM.
Owlz manager Frank Gonzales said about Curtis, "Tyler is a solid right-handed pitcher with a good mix of pitches, he knows how to pitch and has pitched at elevation in the RMAC."
