AZUSA, Calif. – The Colorado State University Pueblo Men's and Women's Track and Field squads competed over the past three days at the highly anticipated Division I/Division II Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
CSU Pueblo had 18 athletes competing in the national meet, some redshirts competed as well, getting much needed experience.
Some notable athletes in the event were able to break season and person bests in the west coast event. Many big-name division one programs and division two programs were entered in the event.
The Pack had lots of success in long distance events.
Freshman
Camille Renou (Chalonnes, France/AS Saint-Barthelemy) was able to run a personal best in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:12.89. Senior
Daniel Beam (Rio Ranch, N.M./Western New Mexico) also ran a personal best in the men's 5000 meters with a time of 14:29.
Senior
Margot Thomas-Gatel (France/Notre Dame Les Oiseaux) continued her stellar year as she ran a personal best in the women's 15000 meters with a time of 4:28.71, while sophomore
Jadyn Herron-Jonap finished right behind Thomas-Gatel, running a personal best in the same event with a time of 4:29.89.
Sophomore
Joseph Harker (Rehoboth, N.M./Bryant and Stratton) competed in the 15000 meters on the men's side and joined Thomas-Gatel and Herron-Jonap in running a personal best. Harker ran a time of 3:59.77.
CSU Pueblo continued to break records as sophomore
Sarah Renberg (Freson, Calif/Edison) had a nice homecoming to Northern California as she ran a personal best in the women's 10,000 meters with a time of 36:31.47 to bring home 25
th.
Junior
Kaleb Beloy (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) had a personal best in the men's 3000 steeplechase as he finished with a time of 8:59.50 to bring home 27
th.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Dunich (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Central) had a breakout performance as she had personal bests in the women's 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. In the 100 she ran a time of 12.3, while in the 200 she ran a time of 25.4.
Sophomore
Febe Wessels (Pretoria, South Africa) continued her breakout sophomore campaign as the thrower finished second place in the women's shot put with a throw of 14.68 meters.
Sophomore
Leonardo Ramos (Denver, Colo./Far Northeast) who has also had a breakout second season with the Pack, finished in seventh place in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 51.63 meters.
