COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State University Pueblo senior mid-distance standout Helen Braybrook has once again earned conference recognition, as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced Wednesday that the All-American and two-time National Champion has been named the RMAC Track Athlete of the Week.
The honor comes on the heels of one of the most extraordinary performances in NCAA Division II history. Competing at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener this past weekend, Braybrook delivered a jaw-dropping effort in the Elite Women's Mile Invitational. Facing a field comprised entirely of NCAA Division I competitors from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC, Braybrook surged to the front and never looked back, crossing the finish in a blistering 4:30.03.
Her time not only won the race outright but also shattered the NCAA Division II indoor mile record, signaling that the reigning 800m Indoor National Champion and DMR National Champion is in peak form to begin the 2025–26 indoor campaign.
Braybrook credited the belief and preparation behind her breakthrough performance.
"Coach Morris has really believed in me from day one," Braybrook said. "All week he kept reminding me that I was ready to do something special, and that confidence made all the difference when the race started to get tough. I also couldn't have done this without my teammates—especially Ricky Diaz, who has been pacing me in workouts and pushing me to another level."
Wednesday's recognition marks yet another milestone in Braybrook's decorated Pack career, further solidifying her place as one of the most accomplished athletes in CSU Pueblo history.
The ThunderWolves return to action next weekend, traveling to Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado for competition on December 13. Braybrook will take the weekend off.
