GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado State University indoor track and field teams competed in the men's and women's high jump to complete action here Saturday at the Mines Pre-Conference Meet hosted by Colorado School of Mines and held at Steinhauer Fieldhouse on the Mines campus.
Along with competing in the high jump on Saturday, the ThunderWolves competed in both the men's and women's shot put and weight throw during the Friday's first day of action at the Mines Pre-Conference Meet.
In Saturday's high jump action, junior
Mikayla Jones (Aurora, Colo./Vista Peak Prep) competed for the women and sophomore
Keith McInnis (Denver, Colo./Denver North) competed for the men.
On the women's side, Jones tallied a second place finish with a mark of 1.67 meters (5-5.75"), while on the men's side, McInnis recorded a third place finish with a mark of 1.97 meters (6-5.50").
On Friday's first day of the meet, the Pack recorded three season best performances in the men's weight throw, while on the women's side, the had a season best performance in the shot put and an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw.
Junior
Olivia Mikaelian (Albuquerque, N.M./El Dorado) was the lone competitor for on Friday for the Pack women as she finished third in the shot put with a season-best mark of 12.41 meters (45-7.75") and recorded an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw as she was second in the event with a mark of 17.28 meters (56-8.50").
Meanwhile, on the men's side, the Pack recorded a 1-2-4-6 finish in the weight throw as sophomore
Leonardo Ramos (Denver, Colo./Far Northeast) won the event with a season-best performance of 17.09 meters (56-1"). In addition to Ramos, junior
Lukas Moran (Pueblo, Colo../Pueblo West) was second with a season-best mark of 16.83 meters (55-2.75"), while sophomore
Xavier Freeman (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East) was fourth with a season-best mark of 15.48 meters (50-9.50"). Sophomore
Felipe Castro Engel (Santiago, Chile/Mount Mercy) was sixth with a mark of 14.08 meters (46-2.50").
Freeman was the top finisher for the Pack in the men's shot put as he was second with a mark of 15.83 meters (51-11.25"). Ramos was third with a mark of 14.84 meters (48-8.50"), while Castro Engel was fourth with a mark of 14.76 meters (48-5.25") and Moran was fifth with a mark of 14.42 meters (47-3.75").
The Pack will now turn their attention to the postseason as they will compete next weekend (Feb. 23-24) at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Championships that will be hosted by Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D.
