COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo senior men's track and field athlete
Nate Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo./Widefield) has been nominated for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Man of Year Award as announced by the league office on Monday.
Miller, who completed his illustrious collegiate track and field career recently with the ThunderWolves, is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree at CSU Pueblo after earning an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education and Recreation.
In his collegiate career with the ThunderWolves, Miller was a five-time NCAA Division II All-American, including capping his illustrious career with a national runner-up finish and a First-Team All-American honor in the men's shot put at the 2023 NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships that were held at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl on May 25-27. Along with earning five All-America honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Miller also earned six First-Team All-Region honors in both the shot put and weight throw in his career. Miller was also an All-American during the 2023 indoor season in the shot put. During the 2022 season, Miller earned All-America honors in both the indoor shot put after finishing as the national runner-up in the event and outdoor shot put and was an All-American in the indoor shot put in 2021.
In five seasons with the Pack, Miller garnered five All-RMAC accolades, including being the 2023 RMAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the RMAC title in the shot put and finishing with a silver medal in the weight throw and was also named the league's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. He was also the indoor champion in the shot put during 2022 season.
While being a member of the Pack men's track and field program, CSU Pueblo finished in the Top 12 of the NCAA Indoor National Championships the past three seasons, including a 10th place finish at the 2023 championships and helped the Pack to two straight Top 15 finishes at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships the past two years.
Miller, who was named the Greater Pueblo Sports Hall of Fame Male Athlete of the Year in 2021 and was recognized with the Tundra Spirit of the Pack Award at the 2023 Wolfies, carries a 3.445 GPA in his MBA program after recording a 3.633 GPA as an undergraduate student. He was named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll in both indoor and outdoor track and field in both 2022 and 2023 and was a three-time member of the CSU Pueblo Dean's List as an undergraduate student. Miller also holds school records in both the indoor and outdoor shot put and the outdoor discus.
In the community, Miller represented the Pack with numerous community service projects that included the Pack Pantry, the Youth Pack Relays, served as Coordinator for Orientation and Major Events with CSU Pueblo's Student Engagement and Leadership program and was also an Associate Chief Justice with CSU Pueblo's Student Government. During his final year at CSU Pueblo, Miller served as the Commencement Communications Coordinator that was part of the school's Marketing, Communications and Community Relations Office.
Harrison Rodgers of Colorado Mesa was tabbed as the winner of the 2022-23 RMAC Man of the Year. The RMAC Man of the Year award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their college career in areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence, community service and leadership.
Along with Miller and Rodgers, the other nominees for the award were Adams State's Noah Hermosillo, Black Hills State's Ryder Black, Chadron State's Harley Rhoades, Fort Lewis' Max Hyson, MSU-Denver's Eric Cox, Regis' Kristian Hooker and UCCS' Dakota Abbott.
