KEARNEY, Neb. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's swimming team concluded action in the University of Nebraska Kearney Invitational here Saturday by finishing second of four teams in the two-day event held at Kearney High School pool.
The ThunderWolves finished the two-day event with a total score of 883 to finish 18.5 points behind UNK, who was the meet's host. Midland University was third with a 453.5 points and Adams State was fourth with 401 points.
On the second day of the event, CSU Pueblo won eight of 10 events held on Saturday's final day of the invitational. The Pack won seven individual events and also captured first place in the 200-freestyle relay.
Sophomore
Carla Sanchez Guareno (Banyeres del Penedes, Spain/Institut de L'Arboc) won two individual events and was a member of the 200 freestyle relay. In addition to Sanchez Guareno, junior
Paola C Wu (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/University of Indianapolis) and freshman
Laci Denn (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Mainland Regional) won each two individual events and freshman
Ashlee Urroz (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe CC) won one individual event and was on the winning 200 freestyle relay team.
The Pack opened Saturday's meet with a second-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle by junior
Markina Evdokimoff (Joshua Tree, Calif./Yucca Valley), who swam a time of 20:22.72.
In the next event, the 200 freestyle, the Pack had four swimmers finish in the Top 8 as Sanchez Guareno won the event with a time of 2:01.10, while freshman
Olivia Dannhaus (Sheridan, Wyo./Sheridan) was fourth with a time of 2:03.91, sophomore
Aleksandra Dutkowiak (Wroclaw, Poland/SMS Wroclaw) was fifth with a time of 2:04.14 and freshman
Margaret Laborde Lagrave (Sacramento, Calif./Saint Francis) tied for seventh with a time of 2:07.79.
Urroz and Dutkowiak was first and second overall in the 50 freestyle with times of 25.14 and 26.32 respectively.
Denn's individual win came in the 400 IM as she touched the wall first in a time of 4:50.69.
In the 100 butterfly, C Wu won the event with a time of 1:00.37, while Gallardo Perez was third with a time of 1:03.26 and junior
Nalani Wess (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock) was sixth with a time of 1:06.10.
Sanchez Guareno other individual event win came in the 200 backstroke as she recorded a first place time of 2:14.11, while Lagrave was third with a time of 2:20.03.

Andrea Gallardo Perez (Merida, Mexico/Iowa Central CC), Evdokimoff and freshman
McKenna Schilling (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake) was first, second, sixth and eighth in the 500 freestyle with times of 5:23.38, 5:36.84, 5:52.82 and 5:56.06 respectively.
C Wu (2:29.34) captured first place in the 200 breaststroke and Dannhaus was second with a time of 2:30.62.
The final event of the meet was the 200-freestyle relay as the 'A' team captured first place with a time of 1:42.98. The members of the 'A' relay team were Lagrave, Urroz, Sanchez Guareno and Dutkowiak.
In addition to the 'A' team, the Pack 'B' relay team placed third with a time of 1:44.54, while the 'C' relay team was ninth with a time of 1:52.18. The members of the 'B' relay team were Denn, Evdokimoff, C Wu and Dannhaus, while the 'C' team members were freshman
Abigail Boyle (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park), Gallardo Perez, Schilling and Wess.
The Pack will return to pool on Nov. 15-18 as they compete at the TYR CMR Invitational hosted by Colorado Mesa and held at El Pomar Natatorium in Grand Junction, Colo.
