PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Apr. 3, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo missed a golden opportunity to split a series with nationally-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, seeing a tie ball game break for the Lopers as the Pack lost 10-5.
CSU-Pueblo led for most of the game Sunday, but Nebraska-Kearney chipped away at the Pack lead before finally ripping ThunderWolves pitchers for a big inning.
The Pack took its large lead in the fifth inning when it turned a game tied at 3 into a 5-3 CSU-Pueblo lead when Kyle Wager (Sr., Globe, Ariz.) knocked a two-run bomb over the fence, part of a three-run fifth.
However, over the next two innings, the Lopers would score one run in each inning, recording a total of three extra-base hits as the score would be tied at 5-5 after the 7th inning.
In the top of the 8th inning, as closer Tim Pomierski (Jr., Upland, Calif.) made his third appearance of the weekend, the Lopers ripped into him for five runs - all with two outs - as the Lopers took a 10-5 lead and sank the Pack's chances.
CSU-Pueblo, now clinging to a mediocre 15-15 record, take to the road next weekend when they play four games at Colorado Christian Friday and Saturday.
