PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Track and Field teams turned in an impressive showing on day two of the 2026 Outdoor RMAC Championships at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl, highlighted by a pair of conference champions and multiple point-scoring performances.
Through two days of competition, the ThunderWolves sit third on the women's side with 29 team points, trailing UC-Colorado Springs (78) and Colorado School of Mines (40). On the men's side, Colorado School of Mines leads the team race with 88 points, followed by UC-Colorado Springs with 71, as the Pack continues to battle heading into the final day.
The headline performance of the day came on the men's side, where Xavier Freeman captured the RMAC Championship in the shot put, delivering a clutch performance to bring home a conference title for the ThunderWolves and score valuable points in the team standings.
On the women's side, senior Febe Wessels continued her dominant season in the throws, winning the RMAC title in the shot put with a mark of 15.29 meters. She followed that up with an impressive runner-up finish in the discus at 45.08 meters, totaling 18 points for CSU Pueblo across the two events.
In the combined events, the ThunderWolves stacked points in the heptathlon as junior Mary Scoggins placed third overall with 4,761 points, while sophomore Kyla Ruzich finished fourth with 4,739 points. Both athletes showed consistency across all seven events, highlighted by Scoggins' strong finish in the 800 meters and Ruzich's steady performances throughout the competition.
CSU Pueblo also saw several athletes advance and compete across the track events. Gabrielle Dunich qualified for the finals in the 400 meters, while Charlotte Young advanced in the 800 meters after winning her heat. In the distance events, Helen Braybrook and Jadyn Herron each secured spots in the 1500-meter finals, continuing to lead the ThunderWolves' distance group into championship Sunday.
Additional efforts came from Lily Smithson in the 10,000 meters, where she placed 17th, and Ella Egizio, who competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. In the hurdles, Leyah Martinez advanced to the finals of the 400-meter hurdles, adding another opportunity for points on the final day.
With champions crowned, finalists set, and points on the board, the ThunderWolves head into the final day of the RMAC Championships with momentum on their home track, looking to close out the meet with a strong showing in Sunday's finals.
