PUEBLO, Colo. - Competing on their home track at the ThunderBowl, the Colorado State University Pueblo track and field teams capped off the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships on Sunday with an impressive final-day performance, highlighted by distance dominance and key podium finishes.
The ThunderWolves delivered one of the most memorable moments of the meet in the women's 1500-meter run, sweeping the top two spots in commanding fashion. Senior Helen Braybrook captured the RMAC title with a winning time of 4:27.24, while teammate Jadyn Herron followed closely behind in second at 4:27.76. The one-two finish provided CSU Pueblo with a massive 18-point swing and further cemented the program's strength in the distance events.
That success carried into the women's 800-meter final, where Charlotte Young added to the ThunderWolves' point total with a runner-up finish, crossing the line in 2:09.99 to secure eight more points.
Earlier in the meet, veteran sprinter Gabrielle Dunich contributed on the track with a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash, clocking a 56.76 in a highly competitive field to add valuable points.
The ThunderWolves also showcased their depth in the multi-events, as Mary Scoggins placed third in the heptathlon with 4,761 points, while Kyla Ruzich finished just behind in fourth with 4,739 points. The duo combined for 11 points in a tightly contested competition.
On the men's side, CSU Pueblo found key scoring performances in the distance events, including strong efforts from Caden Schweer and Kameron Eustace in the 10,000 meters. The pair finished fourth and sixth, respectively, adding eight points to the ThunderWolves' total.
At the conclusion of the three-day championship, CSU Pueblo turned in a competitive showing against one of the deepest conferences in Division II. The ThunderWolves women placed fifth overall with 80 points, while the men secured a fourth-place finish with 88 points.
Across all three days at the ThunderBowl, the ThunderWolves demonstrated their balance and depth as a program, combining elite distance performances, strong multi-event results, and consistent scoring across both the track and field.
The weekend was headlined by the dominance of Braybrook and Herron in the 1500 meters, along with key contributions from Young in the 800, Scoggins and Ruzich in the heptathlon, and multiple scorers on both the men's and women's sides.
With several podium finishes and momentum built on their home track, CSU Pueblo now shifts its focus to the postseason. The ThunderWolves will look to cash in on their NCAA provisional marks and carry this momentum into the postseason.
