PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Track and Field teams opened the 2026 Outdoor RMAC Championships in strong fashion on Friday, competing on their home track at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl.
Day one of the conference meet was highlighted by the start of the combined events, where the ThunderWolves had multiple athletes in contention through the opening four events of the women's heptathlon.
Sophomore Kyla Ruzich led the way for the Pack, sitting in third place at the end of day one with 2,839 points. Ruzich put together a consistent performance across all four events, including a strong 200-meter time of 24.71 seconds to close out the day.
Close behind, junior Mary Scoggins turned in a solid all-around showing and currently sits in seventh place with 2,723 points. Scoggins highlighted her day with a 10.02-meter throw in the shot put and a 1.58-meter clearance in the high jump.
Through four events, the ThunderWolves have positioned themselves well heading into the second and final day of the heptathlon, where points will be finalized with the long jump, javelin, and 800 meters.
On the men's side, the decathlon also got underway, though CSU Pueblo did not have competitors among the top finishers after day one. The leaderboard is currently led by UC-Colorado Springs' Evan Atkin with 3,810 points after five events.
With day one complete, the ThunderWolves remain in striking position in the combined events and will look to build momentum as the championships continue throughout the weekend in Pueblo.
The RMAC Championships resume tomorrow at the ThunderBowl, with more field events, track finals, and the conclusion of the multi-events on tap as CSU Pueblo continues its push on its home turf.
