ThunderWolves Late Surge Halted By Third Round Cancellation At RMAC Championships

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Colorado State University Pueblo Men's Golf battled through chaotic conditions at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, turning in one of the strongest performances of the week despite having their final round cut short due to unplayable weather at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.

The ThunderWolves entered the final round firmly in contention and made a serious push for the RMAC title on moving day. CSU Pueblo posted rounds of 3-under 285 in round one and 4-under 284 in round two, putting themselves within striking distance heading into the final round.

As winds intensified across the Las Vegas desert, the ThunderWolves caught fire. Throughout the afternoon, CSU Pueblo briefly held the lead multiple times and ultimately finished their round early, sitting atop the clubhouse leaderboard at 10-under overall after shooting 3-under during their third round stretch.

However, with conditions worsening and several teams—including Colorado Mesa—still on the course, the RMAC made the decision to shorten the final round to nine holes. That ruling ultimately awarded the team championship to Colorado Mesa, which finished with rounds of 269, 295, and a nine-hole score of 144 for a 708 total.

While official final standings are still being confirmed, CSU Pueblo appears set to finish as the tournament runner-up after one of its most complete performances of the season. The ThunderWolves' 10-under total was the lowest score posted in the field at the time they completed play, and they had surged into position to potentially claim the outright title before the format change.

Individually, the ThunderWolves were led by Marius Dosiere, who put together an outstanding week. Dosiere fired a 5-under 67 in round one, followed by a 1-over 73 in round two, and was even par through his front nine in round three. He finished in a tie for fourth and is expected to earn All-RMAC honors.

Archie Wyatt also delivered a strong performance, finishing tied for ninth. After opening with a 75 (+3), Wyatt rebounded with a 5-under 67 in round two and continued his momentum with a 2-under front nine in the final round.

Agustin Pizzorno added depth for the Pack, tying for 12th with rounds of 73 (+1), 75 (+3), and a strong 2-under 34 on his front nine in round three. Kyle Leydon tied for 15th after posting rounds of 72 (E), 75 (+3), and 37 (+1) in the final round stretch.

Paraic McGrath turned in rounds of 74 (+2), 69 (-3), and 42 (+6), while Callum Kenneally carded rounds of 73 (+1), 82 (+10), and 37 (+1) to round out the ThunderWolves' lineup.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the shortened final round, CSU Pueblo proved it was among the top teams in the RMAC, showing the ability to surge late and contend for a championship.

Head coach Josh Koschke praised his team's effort in the face of adversity.

"I'm extremely proud of the way our guys battled in some really tough conditions in round three," Koschke said. "Obviously, we're disappointed with how things were handled and the decision that was made, but I'm excited for this group and the opportunity we have ahead of us. We're looking forward to getting back to the postseason and competing at regionals again."

The ThunderWolves will now turn their attention to the NCAA postseason, where they are set to make their ninth consecutive regional appearance under Koschke's leadership. More updates are expected as the RMAC finalizes the official results of the men's championship.
