Latino Named RMAC Baseball Hitter of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo junior outfielder Cooper Latino (Parker, Colo./Douglas County) has named this week's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week after an impressive weekend after the ThunderWolves' home series against Colorado Christian this past weekend.

It marks the second time this season that the Pack has had a Player of the Week in baseball as redshirt senior pitcher Jacob Petersheim (Broadway, Va./Broadway) was named the RMAC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 17.

Latino headlined the week for the Pack has he hit .714, slugged 1.429 and had a 2.179 OPS in helping the Pack take three of four games last weekend against the Cougars to earn its first RMAC series win of the season.

In the four game series, Latino played in three games and recorded five hits in seven at-bats and scored two runs, hit two doubles, one home run and had 6 RBI. In addition, he drew one walk and did not strikeout in his seven at-bats. After drawing a walk as a pinch hitter in Friday's series opener, Latino was 3-for-4 with two doubles and 4 RBI in the Pack's 9-7 win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader and in the second game of the doubleheader, he was 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. The Pack won the second game of the doubleheader, 3-1.

On the season, Latino leads the Pack in hitting with a .372 batting average as he has tallied 16 hits, 12 runs, hit six doubles, one triple, and two home runs and has had 16 RBI. He has a .698 slugging percentage and a .481 on-base percentage and has had five multi-hit games and six multiple RBI games.

Meanwhile, the league named Colorado Mesa freshman Jackson Eisenhauer as the RMAC Pitcher of the Week after he picked up his fourth win of the season with five scoreless innings in a 10-2 win over Mines last Saturday. Against the Orediggers, the right-hander struck out four and scattered two hits and a walk while facing 18 batters. It was Eisenhauer's third straight win as he has allowed just two earned runs in 15.0 innings with 14 strikeouts during the streak.

Latino and the Pack (13-16 overall, 5-7 RMAC) will return to action this week with a four-game series (April 2-4) in Golden, Colo., against Colorado School of Mines. The series will begin with a single nine-inning game on Thursday, April 2 at 6 p.m., before playing a doubleheader on Friday, April 3 beginning at noon and then concluding the series with a single nine-inning game on Saturday, April 4 at noon.
