Baseball Set to Continue RMAC Play This Weekend at Regis

Pack Enters Weekend Sporting 8-13 Overall Record and an 0-4 RMAC Record

PUEBLO, Colo. — Colorado State University Pueblo continues Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play this weekend as they travel to Denver, Colo., for a four-game series at Regis University. Both teams enter the weekend still searching for their first league win.

The two teams open the four-game series with a single nine-inning game on Friday, March 20 at 3 p.m., before playing a doubleheader on Saturday, March 21 beginning at noon and then concluding the series with a nine-inning game on Sunday, March 22 beginning at noon.

CSU Pueblo enters the weekend sporting an 8-13 overall record and a 0-4 mark in the RMAC after opening league play by dropping all four games at home last weekend to fifth-ranked Colorado Mesa. In the series, the Pack was outscored, 47-11, by the Mavericks.

Since opening the season with a 5-0 record, the Pack has posted a 3-13 record and has lost eight of its last nine games, with the lone win being a 14-7 victory in its series finale at Northwest Nazarene on March 7.

The two teams have met 100 times on the diamond, including twice this season. The Pack holds a 57-43 all-time series lead, leading 32-21 in Pueblo and 23-21 in Denver. The two teams have split their last 10 match-ups and are 1-1 this season against each other as the Pack picked up an 8-4 win at home over the Rangers on Feb. 10 and then suffered an 18-16 loss at Regis on Feb. 25. Last season, the two schools split their four-game series that was played at Rawlings Field.

Following this weekend's four-game road RMAC series at Regis, the Pack will return home to Pueblo for a four-game RMAC series next weekend (March 27-29) against Colorado Christian.

ABOUT CSU PUEBLO
The Pack enters this weekend's second RMAC series of the 2026 season looking to get back on track, since their 8-4 home win over Regis on Feb. 10, the Pack has posted a 3-13 record and has gone 3-6 away from home. The Pack is 5-7 at home this season.

Coming into this weekend's action, the Pack has been solid offensively, hitting .300 as a team with 204 hits and 149 runs scored through 21 games. The Pack has also tallied 37 doubles, eight triples, hit 14 home runs, and has recorded 137 RBI. The Pack is averaging 7.1 runs per game and is tied for third in the league in triples (8) and is second in the RMAC and 16th nationally in sacrifice hits with 19, including a team-leading four from junior centerfielder Logan Kelly (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley Christian), which is second-most in the league.

Senior outfielder Jeremiah Sanchez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo West) currently leads the Pack in batting average at .365 and has hit safely in 15 of 21 games and leads the team with 10 multiple-hit games, including three four-hit outings. Sanchez leads the team in hits (31), runs scored (20), and doubles (6), and has a .926 OPS.

In addition to Sanchez, Kelly is hitting .328 with 20 hits, 15 runs, two doubles, a triple, a home run and 12 RBI and has been hit by five pitches and has a .825 OPS, while sophomore leftfielder Dax Howard (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) is hitting .327 with 18 hits, 14 runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI. He has drawn a team-best 11 walks and has a .932 OPS.

Senior utility player George Andrews (Overland Park, Kan./Coffeyville CC) leads the team in home runs (4), runs scored (20), slugging percentage (.614), and OPS (1.049) and has had 18 hits, three doubles, one triple and 13 RBI, while junior third baseman Jason Arriola (Riverside, Calif./Norco) leads in RBI (22) and has tallied 16 hits, 12 runs, five doubles, two triples, and three home runs.

The Pack has five regulars in its line-up hitting .294 or better, along with Sanchez, Kelly, Howard, and Andrews, senior second baseman Taehyung Kim (Marana, Ariz./St. Cloud State) and sophomore first baseman/pitcher Tyler Clementz (Gilbert, Ariz./Basha) are hitting .297 and .294, respectively.

Six Pack players have scored 10 or more runs, and 10 players have recorded 10 or more hits, with Sanchez and Kelly each recording 20-plus hits. In addition, the Pack has drawn 73 walks and has been hit by 42 pitches as Howard has walked 11 times, and Kelly, redshirt senior shortstop Kyle Miller (Pueblo, Colo./Colorado Mesa), and junior infielder Jimmy Pelletier (Lavel, Quebec/University of San Francisco) have each been hit five times.

As a team, the Pack is 18-for-25 on stolen bases as junior catcher JJ Fontana (Fort Collins, Colo./Poudre) leads the way with four stolen bases as he is 4-for-4 on the season, while Sanchez, Arriola, and Pelletier have each had two stolen bases.

On the mound, the Pack has the second-best ERA in the league at 6.62. The Pack's pitchers are third in the RMAC in WHIP (1.84) and fifth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (1.34). The Pack pitchers have recorded 126 strikeouts in 171.1 innings of work, and opposing hitters are batting .314 on the season. In addition, the Pack has walked 94 and hit 46 batters.

The rotation has been anchored by redshirt senior Jacob Petersheim (Broadway, Va./Broadway) and Clementz. Petersheim is 2-2 with a 4.01 ERA and in 24.2 innings, he has recorded 19 strikeouts and walked eight as his 1.34 WHIP is second-best in the league, while his 3.17 strikeout-to-walk ratio is third-best in the league, while Clementz is 3-1 with a 5.68 ERA and in a team-best 25.1 innings, he has tallied 15 strikeouts and walked 10 and the reigning Co-Freshman Pitcher of the Year has pitched at least five inning in four of his five starts and has allowed less than two earned runs in two of his five starts.

Leading the way for the Pack bullpen this season has been junior Jackson Adam (Windsor, Colo./Missouri Western State), who has made five appearances and has a 1.69 ERA and one save. He has tossed 5.1 innings and recorded four strikeouts and walked two. In addition to Adam, senior Luke Ruby (Fort Collins, Colo./Resurrection Christian) is 1-0 with a 3.52 ERA and has made five appearances and one start, and in 15.1 innings, he has recorded 15 strikeouts and seven walks and senior Cole Bloomer (Arapahoe, Colo./Lamar CC) has made six appearances and is 1-0 with a 4.82 ERA. In 9.1 innings, he has struck out six and walked four.

Defensively, the Pack is sixth in the RMAC in fielding percentage at .950 as they have committed 38 errors in 765 fielding chances and have turned an RMAC-best 26 double plays. The 26 double plays are seventh best in NCAA Division II baseball, while the 1.2 double plays per game are fourth-best nationally in Division II.

Leading the Pack this season is Bobby Applegate, who is in his fifth season as the program's head coach. Applegate, who was the Colorado Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year in 1995 while playing for the University of Southern Colorado at the time, has compiled a 118-113 overall record at his alma mater and is 73-59 in RMAC games.

ABOUT REGIS
Regis comes into this weekend's action sporting a 9-16-1 overall record and is 0-7-1 in RMAC play after going 0-3-1 last weekend at UCCS, and the Rangers opened league play by losing four consecutive games two weeks ago at home against MSU Denver. In fact, since picking up an 18-16 win at home over the Pack, Regis has posted a 0-8-1 record.

In the Preseason RMAC Coaches' Poll, Regis, who went 35-16 overall and 24-6 in the league last season, was tabbed to finish fifth as the Rangers earned 32 points in the poll voted on by the league's head coaches.

Statistically, Regis is third in the league in hitting with a .345 batting average and has scored 253 runs and is averaging 9.5 runs per game, which is fourth in the RMAC and 28th nationally. In addition, Regis is second in the league in hits (306), doubles (69), and is third in home runs (38), and has had 228 RBI.

Leading the way offensively for the Rangers is sophomore infielder Ethan Wood, as he is hitting .434, which is fifth best in the league, and has tallied 36 hits, scored 34 runs, hit five doubles, eight home runs, and is third in the league in RBI with 36. He is sixth in the league in slugging percentage (.783) and has a 1.326 OPS.

In addition to Wood, redshirt junior outfielder/infielder Jack Moulin is hitting .374 as he has had 34 hits, scored 31 runs, hit nine doubles, one triple, six home runs and has had 27 RBI, while sophomore infielder/outfielder Ayden Harrison is hitting .360 with 36 hits, 29 runs, five doubles, one triple, six home runs and has had 29 RBI.

Regis has 10 players hitting .300 or better, a slugging percentage of .560, and an on-base percentage of .444. In addition, five Regis players have scored 20 or more runs, and eight players have tallied 10 or more RBI, including four players with 20 or more RBI.

The challenge for the Rangers has come on the mound as they enter the weekend sporting a 12.32 ERA and have allowed opponents to hit .387. Regis has surrendered 307 runs and 356 hits in 198 innings.

Regis' top starter is freshman Grant Belcher, who is 3-2 with an 11.44 ERA. He has tossed 19.2 innings and has tallied 13 strikeouts and 13 walks. In addition to Belcher, junior Rocco Harmon is 1-3 with an 11.88 ERA, and in a team-best 25.2 innings, he has struck out 23 and walked 11.

The Rangers' top arms out of the bullpen have been sophomore Pierce Stone and freshman Nathan Ling. Stone is 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA, and he has made a team-best 13 appearances, while Ling is 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA with two saves and has made nine appearances.

Defensively, Regis has a .948 fielding percentage and has committed 44 errors and has turned 16 double plays.

Regis is coached by Pat Jolley, who is in his third season as the program's head coach in 2026 after spending the 2023 season as an assistant coach for the Rangers. In 2024, he led the program to an appearance in the RMAC Tournament title game and the school's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012. Before he arrived at Regis, Jolley, who played collegiately at LSU-Shreveport and Centenary (La.) College, spent three years as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Northern Colorado.
