Pack Hoops Set For Huge Week Of RMAC Play Tomorrow vs. UCCS and Thursday At Colorado Christian

PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado State University Pueblo women's basketball enters a critical stretch of the 2025–26 season this week, as the ThunderWolves prepare for two pivotal Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchups that could go a long way in shaping their postseason positioning. The Pack will open the week at home on Tuesday night against UCCS before heading back on the road Thursday to face Colorado Christian in Lakewood.

Colorado State University Pueblo comes into the week at 11-11 overall and 7-7 in RMAC play, sitting firmly back in the postseason picture after some help around the league this past weekend. The ThunderWolves moved back into the top eight of the RMAC standings and enter the week locked in a three-way tie for seventh place with Fort Lewis and Colorado School of Mines. With only the top eight teams qualifying for the RMAC Tournament and six regular-season games remaining, every result carries added importance down the stretch.

The ThunderWolves are led by head coach Tommie Johnson, who is in his seventh season at the helm of the CSU Pueblo program. Johnson enters the week with a 94-93 overall record during his tenure in Pueblo and has guided the Pack through another competitive RMAC campaign built on defensive toughness, ball movement, and physical play on both ends of the floor.

CSU Pueblo bounced back in a big way last Saturday with a convincing 76-56 win over Chadron State, responding to a tough loss to Black Hills State earlier in the week. The performance showcased the Pack's defensive identity and depth, two traits that will be tested again in a demanding two-game week.

Tuesday: UCCS at Massari Arena
The Pack will begin the week by welcoming University of Colorado Colorado Springs to Massari Arena on Tuesday, Feb. 10, for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff. The Mountain Lions enter Pueblo with a 14-8 overall record and a 10-4 mark in RMAC play, tied for third in the conference standings and firmly in the hunt for a top-four seed.

UCCS claimed a 52-35 win in the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season in Colorado Springs. Despite the final score, the ThunderWolves executed a strong defensive game plan, holding one of the RMAC's most dangerous scorers, Amyah Moore Allen, to just 16 points. CSU Pueblo will look to replicate that defensive effort on Tuesday night while finding more consistency on the offensive end.

Offensively, the Pack has leaned heavily on senior guard Seneya Martinez, who led CSU Pueblo in the first meeting and continues to elevate her play during the heart of conference action. Martinez is averaging 22 points per game over her last four contests and currently ranks 13th in the RMAC in scoring. Her ability to create offense in transition, attack the rim, and knock down perimeter shots has made her the Pack's go-to option late in games.

Running the offense is senior point guard Genesis Sweetwine, one of the most reliable distributors in the conference. Sweetwine ranks second in the RMAC in assists, averaging 4.3 assists per game, a figure that also ranks 40th nationally in Division II. Her steady presence continues to set the tempo and keep the ThunderWolves balanced offensively. Defensively, CSU Pueblo remains one of the league's toughest units, allowing just over 62 points per game, a mark that ranks among the top three in the RMAC.

Thursday: CSU Pueblo at Colorado Christian
Following Tuesday's home contest, the ThunderWolves will hit the road for a Thursday night matchup at Colorado Christian University, set for a 6 p.m. tipoff in Lakewood. CSU Pueblo defeated the Cougars 66-49 earlier this season at Massari Arena, using strong defense and balanced scoring to pull away in the second half.

In that first meeting, the Pack showcased its offensive depth, as Genesis Sweetwine, Seneya Martinez, and freshman forward Jada Bobb all scored in double figures, allowing CSU Pueblo to control the tempo and maintain separation throughout the game.

Colorado Christian enters the week at 6-16 overall and 3-11 in RMAC play but has proven capable of competing, particularly on its home floor. The Cougars are led by fifth-year senior Jordon Heckert, who averages over 12 points per game and provides physicality on both ends of the floor. Guard play, rebounding, and transition defense will again be key focal points as CSU Pueblo looks to secure a valuable road win.

The ThunderWolves are 3-4 in RMAC road games this season and will aim to improve that mark as they continue their push toward an RMAC Tournament berth.

Looking Ahead
With the RMAC standings tightly packed and postseason spots at a premium, every result carries added importance down the stretch. A strong showing this week would give the ThunderWolves momentum heading into the final month of the regular season.

Behind Martinez's recent scoring surge, Sweetwine's elite playmaking at both the conference and national level, and a defensive identity that has already proven it can limit the RMAC's top scorers, CSU Pueblo enters the week knowing the margin for error is slim — but the opportunity to make a statement is right in front of them.
