PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado State University Pueblo women's basketball enters the final week of the regular season at 13–13 overall and 9–9 in RMAC play, tied for the final postseason spot with everything still undecided. Two home games remain. Forty minutes on Thursday will determine whether the ThunderWolves control their fate, while Saturday offers one final home moment for a senior class that has carried the Pack to the edge of March.
Thursday: CSU Pueblo vs. Fort Lewis
Records: CSU Pueblo (13–13, 9–9 RMAC) | Fort Lewis (16–10, 9–9 RMAC)
When Fort Lewis arrives at Massari Arena on Thursday night, the standings say everything. The two teams are tied in conference play, meet only once this season, and the winner will claim the all-important tiebreaker.
CSU Pueblo's identity begins on the defensive end. The ThunderWolves allow just 62.8 points per game, third-best in the RMAC, and are 7–2 when holding opponents to 60 points or fewer. The Pack force 17.7 turnovers per game, rank among the league leaders in steals, and carry a +3.0 turnover margin, a pressure-driven approach that has kept them competitive throughout the season.
Offensively, CSU Pueblo averages 63.9 points per game, but the Pack are most effective when the ball moves. They rank fourth in the RMAC in assists at 14.3 per game and third in assist-to-turnover ratio. Senior guard Genesis Sweetwine directs the offense, averaging 9.5 points and 4.5 assists per game, ranking second in the league in assists and consistently setting the tempo.
The scoring punch comes from senior guard Seneya Martinez, who leads the Pack at 14.8 points per game. Martinez has scored in double figures in 19 of 26 games and has been one of the most dangerous perimeter scorers in the RMAC over the final stretch of the season. Her ability to create shots late in the clock will be vital in a game where every possession carries postseason weight.
Fort Lewis enters averaging 69.5 points per game and thrives on aggressive guard play. Katie Lamb leads the Skyhawks at 12.0 points per game, while Claudia Palacio Gamez adds 3.1 assists per contest and drives their offensive flow. The Skyhawks also force 19 turnovers per game, but that aggressiveness comes at a cost, as ball security has been an issue at times.
For CSU Pueblo, the path is clear. Win the turnover battle, keep Fort Lewis near the Pack's defensive average, and get steady production from Martinez and Sweetwine, and the ThunderWolves put themselves in position to clinch a spot in the RMAC Tournament on their home floor.
Saturday: Senior Day vs. Adams State
Records: CSU Pueblo (13–13, 9–9 RMAC) | Adams State (20–8, 14–4 RMAC)
Two days later, the focus shifts from survival to legacy.
CSU Pueblo closes the regular season at home against Adams State, one of the RMAC's top teams, in a Senior Day matchup at Massari Arena. The Grizzlies average 69.5 points per game, own a +5.7 scoring margin, and sit near the top of the conference standings.
Adams State is led by Kiiyani Anitielu, who averages 16.9 points per game, and Taejhuan Hill, who brings 14.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest, providing a powerful interior presence. In the first meeting between the teams in Alamosa, Adams State controlled the glass and used second-chance opportunities to pull away late.
Rebounding will again be critical for the Pack. CSU Pueblo averages 35.5 rebounds per game and is led by Dasani Nesbit's 6.7 boards per contest. Defensively, the ThunderWolves allow 62.8 points per game and are at their best when games stay in the low 60s, where their pressure defense and half-court execution can dictate pace.
Before tip, CSU Pueblo will honor its four seniors — Seneya Martinez, Genesis Sweetwine, Ruby Sweeney-Spitzeck, and Destiny Smith — a group that has provided leadership, scoring, and stability throughout a season filled with close games and defining moments.
