Box Score POMONA, Calif. - Colorado State University Pueblo baseball responded in a big way on Friday afternoon, bouncing back with an 18–8 victory over Cal Poly Pomona in game two of the series at Scolinos Field.
After dropping the series opener, the Pack came out with urgency and energy, putting together one of their most complete performances of the season to even the series and improve to 6–4 overall. CSU Pueblo's offense was relentless from the middle innings on, pairing patience at the plate with timely power to seize control early and never look back.
The ThunderWolves struck in the third inning, erupting for five runs to swing momentum in their favor. A mix of base hits, hit-by-pitches, and productive outs allowed the Pack to apply pressure throughout the inning, turning a tight game into a multi-run advantage. CSU Pueblo added another run in the fourth to extend its lead and kept Cal Poly Pomona on its heels.
The offense exploded late, delivering the decisive blow in the eighth inning with a six-run frame. Jason Arriola provided the highlight of the day, blasting a three-run home run that broke the game open. CSU Pueblo wasn't finished, adding six more runs in the ninth to cap an 18-run afternoon that showcased the depth and balance of the lineup.
Jeremiah Sanchez was a constant presence on the base paths, reaching base five times and scoring three runs. Kyle Miller crossed the plate four times, while Jimmy Pelletier and Dax Howard each drove in two runs. The Pack finished with 13 hits and nine walks, consistently creating scoring chances throughout the game.
On the mound, Frank Flores Jr. delivered a steady and composed start to earn the win. Flores went six innings, allowing just three hits and two earned runs while striking out four. He worked through traffic effectively and limited damage, giving the offense time to build separation. Cole Bloomer and Chan Yoon handled the final three innings out of the bullpen.
Cal Poly Pomona made a push late with a four-run eighth inning, but the ThunderWolves answered immediately in the ninth and never allowed the momentum to fully shift.
CSU Pueblo will look to keep that momentum rolling tomorrow, as the Pack return to Scolinos Field for a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 a.m. MST, aiming to build off Saturday's bounce-back win and take the series.
