COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After a month-long break from competition, the ThunderWolves return for the championship stretch of their winter season this weekend at the Colorado College Classic in Colorado Springs. The meet marks the final regular-season tune-up for the Pack before they turn their full attention to the postseason and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, scheduled for Feb. 10–14.
The Pack enters the weekend fresh off its Winter Training Trip, where CSU Pueblo recently traveled to Mesa for an intensive training block designed to prepare the team for the championship phase of the season. The trip provided valuable race preparation and team-building opportunities as the ThunderWolves ramped up their training ahead of this final regular-season meet.
CSU Pueblo brings strong momentum into the weekend, having recorded three top-three finishes this season, including two runner-up performances. One of the season's biggest statements came on October 11, when the ThunderWolves earned a dominant 131–50 victory over Adams State University, showcasing the depth and balance of the roster.
The Pack has also been powered by consistent point production across the lineup. Leading the way is Olivia Dannhaus, who has paced the team so far this season with 650.10 points. Senior backstroke specialist Carla Sanchez Guareno follows closely with 625.30 points, providing steady veteran leadership in the pool. Freshman standout Andrea Reyes has also made an immediate impact, catching the attention of the RMAC with 623.20 points in her first collegiate season.
This weekend's Colorado College Classic gives the ThunderWolves a final opportunity to sharpen race execution, dial in starts and turns, and compete in a championship-style environment before conference competition begins.
Once the Pack exits the pool in Colorado Springs, the focus shifts entirely to the RMAC Championships, where Colorado State University Pueblo will look to deliver its strongest performances of the season and carry momentum into the conference meet.
Championship season has arrived, and the ThunderWolves are ready to dive in.
