PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado State University Pueblo Swimming closed out a spirited Senior Day at home on Saturday, honoring four veterans who have helped shape the foundation of the program. The ThunderWolves recognized seniors
Aleksandra Dutkowiak,
Regan Rodriguez,
Carla Sanchez Guareno, and
McKenna Schilling before diving into a competitive dual against Colorado College. Despite several standout swims and emotional moments, the Pack ultimately fell 141–96 in the team standings.
The afternoon featured a number of highlights from the honored seniors and the Pack's young core. CSU Pueblo opened the meet with authority in the 400 Medley Relay, as the A-squad of Carla Sanchez Guareno, Olivia Dannhaus, Andrea Reyes, and Aria Chase powered to a winning time of 4:02.04.
Sanchez Guareno shined throughout the meet, claiming individual victories in both the 200 IM (2:13.32) and 200 Backstroke (2:11.70), continuing her role as one of the Pack's most reliable leaders.
Reyes delivered another strong showing for the ThunderWolves, finishing runner-up in the 1000 Free before storming back to win the 200 Butterfly in 2:13.45, pacing a 1–2–4 CSU Pueblo performance in the event.
Senior Aleksandra Dutkowiak contributed valuable points in the distance races, placing fourth in the 1000 Free and adding a fourth-place finish in the 500 Free later in the meet.
The Pack also saw strong contributions from underclassmen, including Angela Pankte, who recorded top-three finishes in both the sprint freestyle and backstroke events, and Laci Denn, who added points in the 200 Free and 200 Butterfly.
CSU Pueblo closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 Free Relay, with Dutkowiak, Greta Laborde Lagrave, Denn, and Pankte clocking a 1:44.13.
Though the final score swung in favor of Colorado College, the day centered around celebrating the Pack's four graduating seniors—each of whom has left an indelible mark on the program through their leadership, work ethic, and commitment.
The Pack are back in action after gaining over a month away from competition, returning to the pool next month for the Colorado College Classic on January 16–18 in Colorado Springs.
