Men’s Golf Opens Season Runner-Up at Travis Roy Memorial In Wyoming

Sheridan, Wyo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo men's golf team opened the 2025 season in impressive fashion, finishing as runner-up at the Travis Roy Memorial hosted by South Dakota Mines at Powderhorn Golf Club in Sheridan, Wyoming. The ThunderWolves went toe-to-toe with Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival Colorado Mesa, as both teams surged up the leaderboard with stellar second-round performances.

After each squad opened with a 2-over-par 290 in round one, the fireworks came in round two. Colorado Mesa carded a blistering 15-under-par 273, while the ThunderWolves answered with a 12-under 276. The Mavericks narrowly claimed the team title at 13-under overall, while CSU Pueblo finished just behind at 10-under.

Individually, the ThunderWolves dominated the leaderboard with four players inside the top 10. Team captain and Scotsman Archie Wyatt and French standout Marius Dosiere tied for second at 3-under-par. Wyatt bounced back from a first-round 73 with a clutch 68 in round two, while Dosiere fired a 67 after an opening 74.

Colorado native Kyle Leydon added another top finish for CSU Pueblo, taking a share of sixth place at 1-under-par (71–72). Agustin Pizzorno rounded out the top 10 for the Pack, finishing even par (72–72) for a tie for ninth.

Making his collegiate debut, redshirt freshman Jake Johnston, another talented Scot, impressed with a bounce-back performance. After struggling to a 79 in round one, he stormed back with a 3-under 69 in round two to finish tied for 18th at 4-over-par.

The tournament was contested at Powderhorn Golf Club, a private 27-hole Dick Bailey design nestled in the western Rocky Mountains. Embracing a casual western style, the club is managed by Troon Golf and offered a scenic but challenging stage for the early-season RMAC showdown.

Overall, the ThunderWolves outpaced seven other RMAC programs and four South Central Region schools, securing crucial regional points in their season opener.

Head coach Josh Koschke's squad will now have a short break before returning to action September 28–30 at the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya in Cancun, Mexico.
