PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo head football coach
Philip Vigil has announced several coaching staff promotions and coaching staff additions for the 2025 campaign.
Vigil has announced the promotion of
Jordan Dodge to offensive coordinator and
Neema Behbahani has added the title of recruiting coordinator along with coaching the Pack linebackers, along with announcing the additions of
Neal Davis as the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach,
Paul Browning as the receivers coach, Trevor Hopkins as an offensive line assistant,
Dennis Osagiede as a defensive tackles coach and
Thomas Webb, Jr., as a cornerbacks coach.
"We are thrilled to welcome several talented new members to our football staff. Each of them brings a unique set of skills, experience, and passion to the table that will help elevate our program. Their contributions will undoubtedly strengthen our team both on and off the field, and we're excited to see the positive impact they'll have as we continue to build toward success," Vigil said.
Dodge has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach working with the tight ends and has had a helping hand in the Pack offense ranking in the Top 10 in NCAA Division II football the past two seasons in total offense, passing yards and scoring.
Behbahani is entering his third season with the Pack as started out coaching the cornerbacks in 2023, before moving over to coach the linebackers last season. He has added the duties of recruiting coordinator and is charge of handling the football program's recruiting efforts, both on and off-campus.
Davis, who is the program's new offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator, comes to CSU Pueblo after spending the 2024 season as the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Bemidji (Minn.) State University. In his one season at Bemidji, he helped the Beavers to an NCAA Division II quarterfinals berth for the first time in school history and helped an offense that ranked 19th nationally in Division II in fourth down conversion percentage and 27th nationally in rushing offense. He also coached center Jake Gannon, who was the 2024 Division II Remington Award winner and a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award. He has also worked at both Wake Forest University and Eastern Illinois as an assistant offensive line coach and was a standout center at Findlay University from 2016-19 as he started every game (46) at center in his four year career and was the school's Male Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2019.
Browning, who served as a volunteer assistant last year with the Pack, joins the staff full time this season as the receivers coach. Browning was a standout player for the Pack from 2011-14 as he is the school's all-time leader in career receptions (152), receiving yards (2,507) and is tied for the all-time lead in receiving touchdowns (24). He was as two-time All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection and was a team captain on the Pack's 2014 NCAA Division II National Championship team. Prior to getting into coaching, Browning was a Sports Vision Therapist and was also a receivers coach at both Mesa Ridge High School and Mullen High Schools.
Hopkins comes to the Pack after spending last season as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at NCAA Division III East Texas Baptist University. Prior to that, he spent one season as a graduate assistant working with the tight ends at Mary Hardin Baylor and before that he was as four-year letterman and two-time All-Conference center at Texas Lutheran University.
Osagiede comes to the Pack after spending the past two seasons playing professional indoor football with the Green Bay Blizzard in 2024 and the Iowa Barnstormers in 2023. Prior to that, he played collegiately at UMass, Stephen F. Austin and Liberty. He began his college playing career at UMass in 2018 and in 2019. In 2018, he played in 10 games as a reserve on the defensive line and recorded 15 tackles and then in 2019, he played in 10 games and made nine starts and ended the season with 30 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for a loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry. He then transferred to SFA and played in 22 games in 2020 and 2021 and recorded 69 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks and had one fumble recovery with the Lumberjacks, before playing in 12 games in 2022 with Liberty. In his one season with the Flames, he recorded 37 total tackles (25 solo stops), 12.5 tackles for a loss, 6.0 sacks and one quarterback hurry.
Webb moves into the coaching ranks after completing his college career last season with the Pack. In his only season with the Pack in 2024, Webb played in 11 games and made 10 starts and finished the season with 43 total tackles (30 solo stops), and added 2.5 tackles for a loss, one sack and one pass defended. Prior to his one season at CSU Pueblo, he played the 2023 season at the University of Central Oklahoma and recorded nine tackles in 10 games with the Bronchos and played three seasons at Western New Mexico University, including from 2019-22 for Vigil. He played in 23 games over those three seasons and recorded 96 tackles (61 solo stops), 2.5 tackles for a loss, five passes defended, three forced fumbles and one interception. In addition, he was the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) President at Western New Mexico and was also a member of the NCAA Division II National SAAC.
The Pack, who began spring football practice on Wednesday, March 5, will open its 2025 season with a 6 p.m. home game in the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl on Thursday, Aug. 28 against South Dakota Mines. The Pack finished the 2024 season with a 10-2 overall record and claimed its first outright RMAC title since 2014 as they went 9-0 in league play and was the No. 1 seed from Super Region Four in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. In the second round of the playoffs, the Pack suffered a 26-23 setback on its home field to Minnesota State.
