Pack Swim Has Another Successful Day On Day Four Of RMAC Championships

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Swimming team had another good day at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, picking up 148 points on the day to remain in sixth place.

CSU Pueblo was able to get on the board on Friday with Laci Denn qualifying for the 500 freestyle. Denn picked up two points in the event, swimming in the C Final and a time of 5:22.46.

The Pack were able to continue their scoring in the 100 backstroke behind a solid performance from Margaret Laborde Lagrave and Carla Sanchez Guareno. Laborde Lagrave picked up six points as she finished in third place in the C Final and a time of 1:00.97. Sanchez Guareno swam in the B Final and picked up 16 points for the Pack, swimming a time of 58.16.

Olivia Dannhaus advanced to the B Finals in the 100 breastroke and she did not disappoint. Dannhaus swam a time of 1:05.23, picking up 17 big points for CSU Pueblo. 

CSU Pueblo had six swimmers advance to the finals in the 200 Butterfly. Nalani Wess picked up nine points for the Pack, winning the C Final and finishing with a time of 2:17.60. In the B Final, Denn had a strong showing, finishing in fourth place in the group with a time of 2:14.81 and 15 points. Aline Gutierrez picked up 13 big points, as the freshman swam a time of 2:16.49. Andrea Gallardo Perez concluded her historic career, as the captain swam a time of 2:16.32 to pick up 12 points.

Paola C Wu was the final individual to compete on Friday evening, as the decorated swimmer picked up 26 points in the A Group with a time of 2:07.66. 

In the 200 Free Relay, the squad of Gutierrez, McKenna Schilling, Wess, and Aleksandra Dutkowiak scored more points for the Pack, swimming a time of 1:43.52. The other squad for the Pack composed of Gallardo Perez, Marissa Mangino, Markina Evdokimoff, and Regan Rodriguez scored six points for the ThunderWolves.

CSU Pueblo is back in the pool tomorrow morning, looking to make one last charge on the final day of the Championships.
