KEARNEY, Neb. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Swimming team continued their strong early-season momentum with a fine runner-up performance at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Invite Sprint Meet, held November 7–8 in Kearney, Nebraska. The ThunderWolves showcased depth and consistency across all events, finishing in second place with 499.1 points—topping both host Nebraska-Kearney and Western Colorado among Division II competitors.
The Pack opened the meet with a strong third-place finish in the 200 medley relay, setting the tone for what would be a weekend filled with standout swims and personal bests. Andrea Reyes highlighted the ThunderWolves' efforts in the pool, capturing gold in the 200 freestyle with a personal-best time of 1:58.42. Teammate Aria Chase joined her on the podium, finishing third with a personal-best 1:59.07.
In the 100 backstroke, CSU Pueblo looked to its birthday girl and backstroke ace, Carla Sanchez Guareno, who clocked a season-best 59.70 to take second place. Meanwhile, in the 100 breaststroke, Olivia Dannhaus continued her dominance in her signature event, earning silver with a 1:07.17 finish.
Chase returned in the 100 freestyle with another impressive performance, placing fourth in the A-final with a personal-best 55.63. Reyes struck again in the 100 butterfly, capturing bronze in 1:00.06—yet another personal best.
The ThunderWolves' strength shone through in the 200 IM, where Sanchez Guareno and Dannhaus delivered a 1–2 finish. Sanchez Guareno won gold in 2:12.65, while Dannhaus finished right behind her in 2:14.64, both marking season-best times. Reyes capped off a stellar individual weekend by placing second in the 500 freestyle with a personal-best 5:17.02.
In the 100 IM, Dannhaus notched another silver medal with a personal-best 1:02.29, solidifying her status as one of the most versatile swimmers in the RMAC. The Pack wrapped up the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay A-final to close a weekend filled with energy and momentum.
The ThunderWolves now turn their focus to the Eagle Invite, hosted by Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City from November 14–16, where they'll look to build on their impressive early-season success and continue breaking barriers in the pool.
