EDMOND, Okla. - Colorado State University Pueblo Swimming delivered a statement performance at the OCU Eagle Invite this weekend, finishing second overall in a competitive three-day slate hosted by Oklahoma Christian University. The Pack stacked up finals appearances, podium finishes, and season-best swims from every event group, and capped the meet by breaking two school records in the freestyle relays.
Relay Reliability Sets the Tone - and Breaks Records
CSU Pueblo wasted no time setting the bar high in the relay events.
The Pack's A-squad of Laci Denn, Aria Chase, Carla Sanchez Guareno, and Andrea Reyes shattered the 800-yard freestyle relay school record with a 7:45.86 runner-up finish, taking down the previous mark after a balanced performance from all four legs.
The relay dominance continued into the final session, where the A-team of Chase, Greta Laborde Lagrave, Reyes, and Angela Pantke broke the 400-yard freestyle relay school record with a time of 1:39.57, closing the meet with one of the most electric swims of the weekend.
CSU Pueblo also added a strong third-place finish in the 200 medley relay, setting the tone early behind Sanchez Guareno, Olivia Dannhaus, Reyes, and Pantke.
Distance Crew Delivers
Reyes led the distance charge with a second-place finish in the 1000 free (10:33.32) and another runner-up showing in the 500 free (5:06.88). Teammates Sarah Fransson and Aleksandra Dutkowiak also brought in valuable points in the 1000 and 500, helping the Pack build scoring depth early in the meet.
IM and Breaststroke Provide Big Points
CSU Pueblo placed four swimmers in the championship heat of the 200 IM — Dannhaus, Denn, Sanchez Guareno, and Aline Gutierrez — a major team boost. Denn and Gutierrez returned to post strong finishes in the 400 IM, including Denn's runner-up swim.
Dannhaus added a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.15), while Regan Rodriguez and Saige Toth-Norkett contributed additional points.
Backstroke Sweep and Sprint Strength
The Pack dominated the 100 backstroke, going 1–2 behind Sanchez Guareno (57.24) and Pantke (57.43), with Laborde Lagrave taking fourth in 59.50.
Freshman Aria Chase delivered a standout meet, finishing runner-up in the 50 free (23.91) and adding points in the 200 free. Laborde Lagrave and Pantke supported the group with additional sprint scoring.
