ARLINGTON, Texas – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's tennis team concluded play here Friday on the second day of the ITA South Central Regional Championships hosted by Dallas Baptist University.
 
On Friday's second day of action, the ThunderWolves competed in both the 'A' and 'B' Draw Singles Consolation round and in the semifinals of the 'B' Draw Consolation Doubles. The Pack went 0-2 in singles and 1-1 in doubles for the day.
 
Friday's action for the Pack began in the 'A' Draw Singles Consolation Round of 16 as senior Valentina Brienza (Rionero in Vulture, Italy/University of District of Columbia) fell 6-3, 6-4 to UT-Tyler's Elisa Buhagiar.
 
In the 'B' Draw Consolation Singles Quarterfinals, sophomore Yelena Travica (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Maples Collegiate) fell 6-4, 6-0 to Texas A&M-Kingsville's Anouk Terpin.
 
In doubles action in the 'B' Draw Consolation quarterfinals, Travica and freshman MaKayla Martinez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo County) picked up a win over UT-Dallas' Tisha Nakakes-Nguyen and Chloe O'Connor as the Pack duo when the UTD's twosome was forced to retire due to injury to advance to the semifinals.
 
In the semifinals, Travica and Martinez fell in a barnburner match over Lubbock Christian's Sophia Shepherd and Maya Adler, 8-7 (7-3).
 
Friday's action concluded the fall portion of the Pack's schedule as it will open its spring schedule on Saturday, Feb. 1 with matches in Albuquerque, N.M., against University of New Mexico at 1 p.m. and Western New Mexico at 4 p.m.
