Women's Tennis Closes 2025-26 Campaign With Setback at Colorado Mesa

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's tennis team closed out the 2025-26 season here Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 setback to Colorado Mesa University at the Elliott Tennis Center.

With the srtback, the ThunderWolves close the season with a 1-12 overall record, while Colorado Mesa improved to 12-15 overall on the season.

The ThunderWolves battled throughout doubles play but were unable to secure the opening point as Colorado Mesa earned wins at all three positions to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

CSU Pueblo's No. 1 doubles team of senior Margot Aebischer (Etupes, France/Eastern Arizona College) and freshman Fernanda Martinez (Queretaro, Mexico/International School of Queretaro) dropped a 6-1 decision to Devyn Rodriguez and Jade Brilhante, while seniors Bella Hernandez (Rocklin, Calif./MSU Denver) and Laney Reddick (Sacramento, Calif./MSU Denver) fell 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to Delia Maier and Catalina Ballon. Junior Yelena Travica (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Maples Collegiate) and sophomore MaKayla Martinez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo County) also suffered a 6-2 setback at No. 3 doubles against Jane Steur and Sophie Hartman.

Meanwhile, in singles action, Aebischer paced the Pack at the top position before falling 6-2, 6-2 to Rodriguez at No. 1 singles. Martinez also put together a strong effort at No. 2 singles, battling in the second set before dropping a 6-0, 6-4 decision to Valentina Gonzalez.

Hernandez suffered a 6-1, 6-0 loss at No. 3 singles to Brilhante, while Reddick fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to Maier.

Travica dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match at No. 5 singles to Ballon, while MaKayla Martinez fell by identical 6-0 scores at No. 6 singles to Steur.

The Pack will hold a Senior Day celebration next Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at the Pueblo City Park Tennis Center.
