GREAT BEND, Kan. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's tennis team concluded its two-game trip to the Sunflower State here Saturday with an exhibition match against Barton County Community College played at Veterans' Memorial Park – West Courts.
Barton County CC won the exhibition game, 6-1, over the ThunderWolves.
The Pack's lone win in the match came at No. 5 singles as sophomore
MaKayla Martinez (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo County) won in a tiebreaker, 8-7.
Barton County earned the doubles point as they claimed all three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. Senior
Margot Aebischer (Etupes, France/Eastern Arizona College) and freshman
Fernanda Martinez (Queretaro, Mexico/International School of Queretaro) dropped an 8-4 decision at No. 1 doubles, while seniors
Bella Hernandez (Rocklin, Calif./MSU Denver) and
Laney Reddick (Sacramento, Calif./MSU Denver) fell 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. The Cougars won the No. 3 match by default.
In singles action, Aebischer battled at the top spot against Vitoria Campigotto before falling 6-2, 7-5, while Martinez was edged 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 singles by Danira Ndengoue and Hernandez fell 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to Grace Tchamoussa.
Reddick fell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles against Jamie Petrova, and the Cougars won at No. 6 singles by default.
The Pack will return to action on Saturday, April 18, with an 11 a.m. match in Grand Junction, Colo., against Colorado Mesa. The match with Colorado Mesa will conclude the 2025-26 season for the ThunderWolves.
