The ABCA/Rawlings Team is Curtis' Third First-Team All-Region Nod This Postseason

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Colorado State University Pueblo senior pitcher Tyler Curtis (Las Vegas, Nev./Southern Idaho) racked up another postseason accolade on Wednesday as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year has been named a First-Team All-South Central Region selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings.

The All-South Central Region honor by the ABCA/Rawlings is the third one this postseason for Curtis as he has also been named a First-Team All-South Central Region selection by both the D2CCA and the NCBWA.

The ABCA/Rawlings All-Region teams were voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association in each of the eight NCAA regions and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division II All-America Committee, which is chaired by Lynn University head baseball coach Rudy Garbalosa.

Curtis, who is one of 14 players named to one of the two ABCA/Rawlings All-South Central Region Teams from the RMAC and one of four first team honorees from the league, finished the 2024 campaign tied for the RMAC lead in both wins (9) and complete games (3) and was second in the league in ERA (5.12), innings pitched (82.2) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.53) and was third in the league in strikeouts with 68.

On the season, Curtis made 13 starts and posted a 9-3 overall record and a 5.12 ERA. In 82.2 innings of work, the right-hander tossed three complete games, allowed 100 hits, 51 runs, 47 earned runs, while walking 15 and striking out a team-best 68. He recorded a 1.39 WHIP on the season and opposing hitters hit just .297 on the year. He tossed six or more innings eight times and recorded six or more strikeouts in a start five times, including a career-high eight strikeouts against both UCCS and Adams State. His nine wins are 18th most in Division II and he pitched a career-high nine innings against UCCS, which is tied for the third-most innings in a game in school history.

With his First-Team All-South Central Region selection, Curtis is now eligible for ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings Division II All-America Team will be announced on Friday, May 31 immediately following the Opening Banquet of the 2024 NCAA Division II World Series in Cary, N.C.
