PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo baseball had two players named to the Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators (formally known as CoSIDA) that was announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
The two Pack players recognized as Academic All-District Baseball Team selections were senior outfielder
Wyatt Reginato (Cottonwood, Calif./Folsom Lake) and junior pitcher
Luke Ruby (Fort Collins, Colo./Resurrection Christian). Ruby is a repeat Academic All-District selection from last season, while Reginato now advances to the Academic All-America ballot and the CSC Academic All-America Baseball Team will be announced on July 1. The Academic All-America national ballot will be voted on by CSC members.
To be eligible for selection to the CSC Academic All-District Baseball Team, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher GPA. They must have also either played in 90 percent of the team's games or start at least 66 percent of the team's games and baseball pitchers were required to make 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched. In addition, transfers were also eligible and schools were limited to a total of five nominations.
Reginato earns his Academic All-District honor after carrying a 3.63 cumulative GPA in Construction Management. On the season, he was named a Second-Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection after hitting .413 with 72 hits, 53 runs scored, 12 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 42 RBI. He was also 15-for-17 on stolen bases and tallied a .509 on-base percentage and a .549 slugging percentage and led the Pack in multi-hit games with 25 and also had 10 multiple RBI games.
Ruby repeats as an Academic All-District honoree after carrying a 3.62 cumulative GPA in Computer Information Systems. On the season, Ruby was 2-3 with a 7.09 ERA as he made 12 appearances and seven starts. In 39.1 innings, Ruby struck out 36 and walked 12, while allowing 49 hits and 35 runs (31 earned runs). His 39.1 innings pitched and 36 strikeouts were fourth most on the team.
Reginato and Ruby and the rest of the Pack baseball team finished the season with a 32-20 overall record and tied for third in the RMAC with a 22-10 record. The 32 wins are the most for the program since posting a 41-16 record during the 2015 season, while the 22 RMAC wins are the most for the Pack since going 28-10 in league play during the 2015 season.
