DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo baseball squad concludes the 2024 regular season with a four-game series on Friday and Saturday against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent; Regis University.
The ThunderWolves sit in the sixth and final postseason qualifying spot in the RMAC standings with a 26-19 overall record, and a 15-13 conference record. One victory for CSU Pueblo against Regis would clinch a spot in the conference tournament for the Pack and eliminate the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs from catching the ThunderWolves.
Mathematically CSU Pueblo could still finish third place in the conference if the chips fall correctly. Colorado Mesa University has officially clinched the regular season RMAC title and will be the number one seed going into next week's RMAC Tournament.
Regis comes into this weekend's matchup in the number two spot in the RMAC with a 27-18-1 overall record, and an 18-10 record in conference play.
It is safe to say that a lot could happen this weekend in the RMAC on this final weekend of the regular season.
ABOUT REGIS
Regis comes into this weekend with a lot to still play for, as the Rangers are currently in second place behind Colorado Mesa. Despite being only four games back behind Mesa, Regis cannot win the regular season title because the Mavericks hold the tiebreaker over the Rangers.
Regis is holding onto a one game lead over both Colorado School of Mines and Adams State, who are both 17-11 in the RMAC.
Offensively Regis is very talented, as the Rangers have six players batting over .300. Regis is second in the conference in batting average at .344.
On offense, the Rangers are led by Adam Paniagua who is batting .427 on the season, which is second in the RMAC. He is also second in the RMAC in homeruns with 18, and is third in RBI's with 63.
Pitching-wise the Rangers are led by Wyatt Zsidisin, who is 3-2 on the season with an 8.33 ERA in 54.0 innings pitched.
Regis is led by Head Coach Pat Jolley, who is in his first season leading the Rangers, and second as a coach for Regis.
ABOUT THE PACK
The ThunderWolves come into this four-game series finale with lots on the line as well. CSU Pueblo can still finish as high as third place in the conference, or still have the possibility of missing the tournament if the Pack do not take care of business.
