Track & Field Conclude 2024 Indoor Championships

Men Finish Fourth and Women Finish Sixth

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Colorado State University Pueblo Men's & Women's Indoor Track teams concluded the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday on the campus of Black Hills State University.

The men's team finished in fourth place with 55 points, while the women finished sixth place with 48 points. Colorado School of Mines won both the men's & women's championships.

CSU Pueblo was led once again on Saturday by Justin Jenks (Helena, Mont./Helena Capital) who already won the RMAC Championship on Friday in the weight throw, as he captured his second title of the weekend, winning the shot-put finals with a throw of 59' 0.5" and breaking the BHSU Field House Record.

Throwers Katherine Higgins (Mead, Colo./Ponderosa) and Febe Wessels (Pretoria, South Africa) went one and two in the women's shot-put, with Higgins taking the gold and an RMAC and record throw of 51' 3.25". Wessels finished right behind her with a silver an outstanding throw of 48' 5.25".

CSU Pueblo also had strong showing in the men's shot-put from sophomore Xavier Freeman (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East), as the Pueblo native finished third with a fine mark of 53' 4.5". Freshman Leonardo Ramos (Denver, Colo./Far Northeast) also made his way to the podium with a fifth-place finish and a mark of 51' 6".

Junior Margot Thomas-Gatel (France/Notre Dame Les Oiseaux) finished sixth place in the women's 1 mile run finals, while junior Mikayla Jones (Aurora, Colo./Ponderosa) had a strong showing in the women's high jump finishing fourth place.

Sophomore Keight McInnis (Denver, Colo./Denver North) was able to get on the podium in the men's high jump with a fifth-place finish and a mark of 6' 8.25". The men's 4x400 relay team of Grant Young (Dallas, Texas/Shelton), McInnis, Evan Johnson (Aurora, Colo./Grandview), and Nathan Swalley (Colorado Springs, Colo./Fountain-Fort Carson) finished in seventh place.

The Pack will be back in action at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 in Pittsburg, Kan. The NCAA will announce the participants for the 2024 Indoor National Championships on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. MT on the NCAA.com website.
