Women's Basketball Looks To Continue Win Streak; Host Westminster & Colorado Mesa

Only Four Games Left In Regular Season Before RMAC Tournament

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women's basketball team looks to continue to move up in the standings in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play as the Pack are back in action as CSU Pueblo hosts Westminster (Utah) on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday.

The Pack are coming off a 2-0 weekend, defeating Colorado Christian and Chadron State last weekend on the road. The two wins last weekend were huge for Tommie Johnson's squad as it pushed CSU Pueblo into a tie for seventh place with Colorado Christian. Eight teams qualify for the RMAC Tournament at the end of the regular season.

Saturday's game will be Senior Day as two members, senior forward Teona Pop Stojanova (Skopje, Macedonia/Dodge City CC) and graduate student Romola Dominguez (Denver, Colo./Central Arkansas) will be honored before the game. 

The ThunderWolves enter this weekend with a 15-11 overall record and a 10-8 mark in RMAC play. CSU Pueblo has won four out of their last five games and these weekends' games with give the Pack a chance to solidify themselves in the RMAC Tournament. In addition, the Pack sit just one game back of Black Hills State (11-7) for sixth place.

This will be the second time that CSU Pueblo has faced Westminster and Colorado Mesa this season.

ABOUT THE PACK
The ThunderWolves enter the weekend led by their double-double machine, redshirt junior forward Alisha Little (Aurora, Colo./Northern Colorado), who is one of the most dominant player in all of NCAA Division II. Little is second in the RMAC in scoring and rebounding at 20.3 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game. Little leads the conference in blocks at 3.4 per game. She leads all of NCAA Division II in double-doubles with 19 and most recently broke the all-time record for blocks in Colorado Collegiate Women's Basketball. Little is also coming off being named Defensive Player of the Week by the RMAC.

Redshirt junior forward Autumn Watts (Centennial, Colo./McNeese State) continues to be a solid compliment in the frontcourt with Little. Watts has scored in double figures in eight out of her last nine games. She joins Little as the other double-digit scorer on the squad.

Junior guard Tomia Johnson (Colorado Springs, Colo./Florida Gulf Coast) continues to be one of the best two-way guards in the conference. Her defensive presence and command of the offense is crucial to the Pack. Johnson is fourth in the conference in assists at 3.7 per game and is ninth in steals at 2.3 per game.

CSU Pueblo relies heavy on their strong defensive presence as they continue to be one of the better defensive units in the RMAC and the nation. The Pack only allow 64.2 point per game and hold their opponents to just 37 percent from the field.

The pack continue to rally around the ball as they lead the conference in blocks at 5.5 per game and rank fifth nationally in that category. In addition, the Pack average just under 10 steals per game and pull down an average of 38 rebounds per outing.

CSU Pueblo is led by Head Coach Tommie Johnson, who is in his fifth season at the helm. In his tenure as head coach, Johnson has put together a 63-67 overall record, and an RMAC record of 49-53. Johnson also spent 10 seasons as an assistant for the men's program from 2008-16, and played his college ball at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.

ABOUT WESTMINSTER (Utah)
It has been a long season for the Griffins as the squad from Salt Lake City, UT. comes into this matchup at the bottom of the RMAC with a 3-21 overall record and 1-17 record in RMAC play. Westminster has dropped eight games in a row.

Westminster is coming off a lone game last Friday as they fell to Metropolitan State University of Denver 66-60. The Griffins were led by Elizabeth Means who scored 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Means is their second leading scorer at 10.5 points per game.

Westminster is led in scoring by Teuila Nwahine who averages 11.9 points per game.

In the first match-up between CSU Pueblo and Westminster, the ThunderWolves took home the victory 67-58 on Jan. 6 in Salt Lake City. The Pack were led in that game by Little and Watts, both scoring in double figures, while the Griffins were led by Jaycee Lichtie and Za'kkri Robinson who both scored 13 points.

Westminster is led by Head Coach Asami Morita who is in her first year leading the Griffins. Most recently Morita was an assistant coach at the University of Nevada. Morita played her college ball at Kansai University, playing all four seasons.

ABOUT COLORADO MESA
Colorado Mesa comes into Saturday's match-up with a 20-5 overall record and a 14-4 record in RMAC play. The Mavericks sit just a half-game back of first place behind Regis and UCCS.

Colorado Mesa is coming off two wins last weekend as the Mavericks defeated No. 20 Colorado School of Mines and MSU Denver.

The Mavericks soundly defeated Mines 74-47 behind the RMAC's fifth leading scorer Olivia Reed (16.8 ppg) as she scored 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field.

The next night the Mavericks defeated MSU Denver 53-45, once again led by Reed who scored 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting.

In the first match-up against CSU Pueblo, the Mavericks defeated the Pack in Grand Junction 74-59 on Jan. 5. Colorado Mesa was led by Mason Rowland who went off for 30 points for the Mavericks. Rowland is also one of the best scorer's in the RMAC, as she averages 15.6 points per game and ranks ninth in the league.

Little led the way for the Pack in the loss, recording a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds.

This should be one of the best matchups in the RMAC this season, featuring Little and Reed going toe to toe with one another.

Colorado Mesa is led by Head Coach Taylor Wagner who is in his 12th season leading the Mavericks. He has put together a 231-61 overall record leading Colorado Mesa, leading the Mavericks to six NCAA Tournaments and one Elite Eight.

UP NEXT FOR THE PACK
After the two games this weekend, the Pack will head back on the road, heading up I-25 to take on UCCS next Friday in Colorado Springs, and conclude the regular season next Saturday in Denver as they take on Regis.
