Williams Earns First-Team ABCA/Rawlings All-South Central Region Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Colorado State University Pueblo senior first baseman Reggie Williams (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) has been named a First-Team All-South Central Region selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings as announced by the organization on Wednesday morning.

Williams, who was named a Second-Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection, earns his First-Team ABCA/Rawlings All-South Central Region accolade as an infielder after being second in the league and fourth nationally in Division II in batting average at .447.

The ABCA/Rawlings All-Region teams were voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association in each of the eight NCAA regions and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division II All-America Committee, which is chaired by Lynn University head baseball coach Rudy Garbalosa.

Williams, who is one 18 players named to one of the two ABCA/Rawlings All-South Central Region Teams from the RMAC, finished the 2023 season leading the Pack in hits (92), runs scored (64), doubles (25), walks (28), hit by pitches (12) and on-base percentage (.534). He led the RMAC in on-base percentage and was third in both doubles and hits and eighth in runs scored. He also had 41 RBI and was 8-for-14 on stolen bases.

During the recently completed 2023 season, Williams recorded at least one hit in 43 of 49 games he played in and led the team in multi-hit games with 28, including a team-best three 4-hit outings. He also had a school record 26 game hit streak during the season and also recorded a 74 game reached base streak that dated to the 2022 season. Williams' 92 hits are seventh-most in Division II, while his 25 doubles are fourth-most in Division II. His 61 career doubles are second-most among active Division II players and 11th among all active NCAA Baseball players' at all three levels (Division I, II and III).

With his First-Team All-South Central Region selection, Williams is now eligible for ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings Division II All-America Team will be announced on Friday, June 2 immediately following the Opening Banquet of the 2023 NCAA Division II World Series in Cary, N.C.

Joining Williams on the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Central Region First Team are Texas A&M-Kingsville junior catcher Nick Wolf, MSU Denver junior first baseman Jake Williams, MSU Denver senior second baseman Cody Schultz, West Texas A&M senior third baseman Adam Becker, Lubbock Christian junior shortstop Carson Ogilvie, Angelo State senior outfielder Jacob Guerrero, Colorado Mesa senior outfielder Julian Boyd, Lubbock Christian senior outfielder Eduardo Acosta, MSU Denver senior outfielder Tanner Garner, MSU Denver junior designated hitter Zach Schuler, Regis senior utility player Matt Marlow, Angelo State junior pitcher Kade Bragg, Angelo State junior pitcher Aaron Munson, Colorado Mesa freshman pitcher Liam Hohenstein, St. Edward's junior pitcher Luke Short and UT Tyler sophomore relief pitcher Garrett Arredondo.

Along with announcing the All-Region Team in all eight NCAA regions, the ABCA/Rawlings also announced the Region Player and Pitchers of the Year in each region and in the South Central Region, Mesa's Boyd was named the Region Player of the Year, while Angelo State's Bragg was named the Region Pitcher of the Year.

The ABCA/Rawlings Second-Team All-South Central Region Team features Colorado Christian senior catcher Jordan Medina, St. Edward's sophomore first baseman Lance Little, Colorado Mesa junior second baseman Jonathan Gonzalez, UT Tyler junior third baseman Austin Ochoa, Colorado Mesa junior shortstop Harrison Rodgers, Adams State junior infielder Mike Bathauer, Colorado Mesa junior outfielder Robert Sharrar, Colorado Mesa senior outfielder Conrad Villafuerte, MSU Denver sophomore outfielder Ross Smith, St. Mary's senior outfielder Clay Bradford, Angelo State junior designated hitter Tripp Clark, UT Tyler senior utility player Jordan Gochenour, Angelo State junior pitcher Braxton Pearson, Colorado Mesa junior pitcher Jacob Rhoades, Colorado School of Mines graduate student pitcher Kevin Zapanta, Arkansas-Fort Smith junior pitcher Brayden Johnson and Colorado Mesa graduate student relief pitcher Anthony Durbano.

Williams helped lead the Pack to a 22-31 overall record and a fourth place finish in the RMAC with a 17-16 record. The Pack advanced to the RMAC Tournament where they went 1-2 overall and ended their season with a 17-16 setback to No. 3 seeded Regis in an elimination round game.
