Rotondo and Pack break three more records on day two

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (November 17, 2018) – On day two of the A3 Performance Invitational, Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving established three more school records at the El Pomar Natatorium.
 
Natalie Rotondo (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) broke the Pack's 100 fly record twice. She swam a school-record 57.69 in the prelims, breaking the previous record by .22 seconds. Rotondo returned later to better her benchmark with a time of 57.61 in the finals. She claimed fourth place and 15 points for this performance.
 
The Pack's 800 relay team shattered the previous school record with a time of 8:04.66. Rotondo anchored the team of April McDonough (Sr., Frisco, Texas), Phoebe Pontious (Jr., Caledonia, Mich.), and Julia Whitfield (Fr., Wichita, Kan.) that beat the previous Pack record by almost six seconds. They earned fourth place and 30 points for their efforts.
 
Rotondo also swam the third fastest time in program history in the 100 back. The freshman finished in 12th place with a time of 59.29.
 
Pontious placed seventh in the 100 fly.  She earned 12 points with a time of 59.39.
 
The Pack took fifth in the 200 medley relay. Arianna Rohde (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska), Kate Miller (So., Draper, Utah),  Bristyn Croswhite (So., Phoenix, Ariz.), and Jade Irick (Sr., Idaho Falls, Idaho) posted a time of 1:55.08.
 
McDonough placed ninth in the 1000 free. The senior recorded a time of 11:13.01.
 
Whitfield led the Pack with a 10th place finish in the 200 free. She touched the wall in a time of 1:57.81. Rotondo placed 13th (2:00.15).
 
Freshman Emma Chvatal (Carterville, Ill.) posted the Pack's top time in the 400 IM (5:04.14). She earned two points with her 15th place finish. Leila Zijadic (Sr., North Vancouver, B.C.) swam the Pack's best time in the 100 breast with a mark of 1:13.21.
 
The ThunderWolves remain in fifth place after day two of the A3 Performance Invitation. This meet will wrap up Sunday at 10 a.m. Click Here for live results.
