GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (November 16, 2018) – Colorado State University – Pueblo Swimming & Diving broke three school records Friday on day one of the A3 Performance Invitational at the El Pomar Natatorium.
The ThunderWolves shattered their school record in the 200 free relay. The quartet of
Phoebe Pontious,
April McDonough,
Julia Whitfield (Fr., Wichita, Kan.), and
Natalie Rotondo (Fr., Aurora, Colo.) swam a school record time of 1:38.34. They beat the previous school record of 1:39.93. This effort led them to fourth place.
Pontious (Jr., Caledonia, Mich.) also broke her own record in the 50 free twice Friday. In the prelims she swam a time of 24.61, .03 seconds better than her school record. Pontious returned later to swim a time of 24.58 in the finals. She took 10th place overall.
McDonough (Sr., Frisco, Texas) took 15th in the 500 free. She reached the wall in a time of 5:35.52. McDonough also swam a time of 2:24.25 in the 200 IM.
Bristyn Croswhite (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Pack with a 27th place finish in the 200 IM. She reached the wall with a mark of 2:20.64.
Reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Diver of the Week
Madison Ortega (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) took 10th in the one-meter dive. Ortega posted a score of 236.20.
