PUEBLO, Colo. (November 1, 2018) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Swimming & Diving will travel to Arkansas for the Hendrix Relays and the Hendrix Classic starting Friday afternoon and continuing Saturday.
The ThunderWolves have started the season 0-2 in dual meets. CSU-Pueblo battled both Western Colorado University and D-I's New Mexico State University.
Phoebe Pontious (Jr., Caledonia, Mich.) has three individual wins this season. Pontious beat the Aggies in the 50 Free with a time of 25.18. She also won the 100 free in her last meet (55.16).
Pontious was also a part of the Pack's 200 Free relay team that posted the fourth fastest time in school history against the Aggies. April McDonough (Sr., Frisco, Texas), Natalie Rotondo (Fr., Aurora, Colo.), and Julia Whitfield (Fr., Wichita, Kan.) joined Pontious to record a time of 1:41.82 against the Aggies.
On the diving side, Madison Ortega (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) has two wins this season. She won the one meter dive against the Mountaineers in college debut. Ortega dove to first place points in the three meter dive in the Pack's meet with the Aggies with 115.50 points.
Rotondo has a win and a pair of second place finishes in her young Pack career. Most recently, Rotondo placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.59 against the Aggies.
Senior Leila Zijadic (North Vancouver, British Columbia) led a Pack sweep of the points in the 200 breast. Zijadic took first with a time of 2:42.80. Kate Miller (So., Draper, Utah) touched the wall in a time of 2:44.57 to place second. Shion Ienaga (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) claimed third with a mark of 2:59.39.
The Hendrix Classic will celebrate its 51st anniversary with the Pack making its debut at the event. This will also be the 56th annual Hendrix Relays.
