Pack tennis teams suffer home losses to Mavericks

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 7, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo tennis programs lost home Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches to Colorado Mesa University Friday. The men's team lost 7-2, while the Pack women fell 9-0.

The men's team got singles wins from freshman Nick Wade (Upminster Essex, United Kingdom) and sophomore Dante Alcala (Pueblo, Colo.). Wade won 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 10-5 third set tiebreak at No. 2 singles, while Alcala was victorious at No. 6 singles 6-4, 6-1.

For the women, both the No. 1 and No. 2 singles pushed a thrid set, but couldn't find a victory. Sophomore Nia Matthews (Houston, Texas) lost 6-4, 1-6, 3-6 at the No. 1 spot, while Acacia Dettman (Perris, Calif.) suffered a setback at No. 2 by the scores of 7-6, 3-6, 3-10 (third set tiebreak). 

Both programs move on to more RMAC play Sunday when they head to Denver to battle MSU Denver at 9 a.m. and Colorado Christian University at 2 p.m.
