COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 1, 2016) – Following a dominating first-year, Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball standout Molly Rohrer (Greenwood Village, Colo.) has earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors. Rohrer was also named First Team-All RMAC along with Tuileisu Anderson (So., Vancouver, Wash.). Senior Dee Arrieta (Pueblo West, Colo.) earned All-RMAC honors for the second consecutive season receiving second team honors.
Rohrer led the conference with 2.2 blocks per game and 61 total blocks. She also topped all RMAC freshmen with 12.5 points per game. Rohrer's 61 rejections ranks as the third highest single-season total in school history, three shy of second place.
She already ranks ninth in school history in total blocks. Rohrer's 2.2 blocks per game average ranks second and she stands 11 swats away from the school record. She is also the only player to start in every game for the Pack this season.
On two occasions this season Rohrer swatted five shots. She scored a season-high 25 points against Fort Lewis College, Feb. 13.
Rohrer becomes the second Pack player to receive RMAC Freshman of the Year honors. Katrina Selsor took home RMAC West Division Freshman of the Year in 2009-10.
Anderson earns First Team All-RMAC honors for the first time as a sophomore. She led the Pack with 13.9 points per game and 2.0 steals per game during the regular season. Anderson earned RMAC Player of the Week honors three times in 2015-16.
In the Pack's 59-50 win over Colorado School of Mines Jan. 22, Anderson scored 21 points all of which in the second half. Anderson scored 18 points in the fourth quarter. Her late game surge helped the Pack secure a win.
Anderson has also made 78.9 percent of her shots from the foul line. She has dished out 2.2 assists per game. Two times this Anderson has collected a career-high five steals.
After collecting First Team All-RMAC honors last year, Arrieta earned a spot on the Second Team All-RMAC in 2015-16. In her senior season, Arrieta took the reigns as a team leader. To help the squad succeed, she switched from her natural shooting guard position to run the point for the Pack.
Despite sacrificing four shot attempts per game, Arrieta still made an impact with 6.6 points per game. She also helped in the other facets with five boards per game and a team-leading 2.7 assists per contest. Both of which are career highs.
One of the top 3-point shooters in school history, Arrieta has drained 34.1 percent of her shots from beyond the arc. With 147 career 3-pointers, Arrieta ranks fourth in program history. She stands five triples away from the top three.
For the third consecutive season, the ThunderWolves had at least three players earn all-RMAC honors. They set a program record this season with 23 wins.
Anderson, Arrieta, Rohrer, and the rest of the No. 2 seed Pack women's basketball team will begin the postseason Tuesday night, March 1, when the host No. 7 seeded Colorado Mesa University in the first round of the RMAC Shootout. The game begins at 7 p.m. inside Massari Arena.
Pack Athletics has kindly donated 100 free tickets to CSU-Pueblo students for Tuesday's playoff game. The first 100 students with a CSU-Pueblo ID in line for Tuesday's playoff game will receive this free general admission ticket.
Aside from these free student tickets, it will cost $8 for an adult ticket and $5 for students and seniors. Children five and under will be allowed in free.
