Box Score EMPORIA, Kan. (February 7, 2016)– In the finale of their opening series, the Colorado State University-Pueblo baseball team could not muster much offense in a 3-0 loss to Emporia State University. The loss sends the Pack to 1-2 in the young 2016 season.
The Pack only managed four hits against the combination of Nathan Gleber and Jordan Plank. Gleber pitched six innings to earn the win, while Plank collected the save in three scoreless innings. Gleber and Plank did not allow a walk and struck out 12 Pack batters.
Following his game-winning home run Saturday, Francis Griffin (Sr., Oakland, Calif.) delivered a 1-for-3 day at the dish. Dominick Bregar (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.), Jordyn Compehos (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) and Jordan Godman (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.) had the other three hits for the Pack. All of these hits were singles. No Pack player reached second base safely.
Kyle Lazcano, (Jr., Anaheim Hills, Calif.) took the hard luck loss for the Pack. Lazcano tossed five innings, allowing one unearned run. He struck out five while allowing two hits and two walks in his Pack debut.
CSU-Pueblo will host its home opener at Rawlings Field Friday Feb.12 at 1 p.m. The Pack will begin a series against Adams State University in a non-conference series versus a conference foe.
