GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (January 29, 2016) – A 54.3 percent shooting effort from the field launched Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball to a 70-59 victory over Colorado Mesa University Friday. This hot shooting night propels the Pack to a 16-4 (11-3 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) record. CMU drops to 11-7 (8-6 RMAC).

Ranked fourth in the RMAC 's scoring race, Tuileisu Anderson (So., Vancouver, Wash.) led all players with 17 points. Anderson filled the stat sheet with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.

The sophomore made 5-of-11 from the field including two 3-pointers. She also knocked down 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.

Lauren Heyn (Fr., Loomis, Calif.) willed her way to another impactful performance. Heyn netted  14 points while making all five of her attempts from the field. The freshman also grabbed eight boards in the win.

Senior Dee Arrieta (Pueblo, Colo.) battled for 38 minutes in the Pack's victory. Arrieta scored eight points and got her teammates involved with six assists. She also collected three steals.

Both squads went on a scoring stretch in the first. The Pack rode a six-point run to an 11-5 lead, but the Mavericks responded with nine straight points over the last 3:40 of the first to take a 14-11 lead after one.

The Mavericks run continued that point streak in the second as they scored the first nine points of the second frame. All together CMU posted an 18-0 run that held the Pack without a bucket for over five minutes, forcing Jim Turgeon to call a time out.

After The Mavericks built a 29-17 lead, the Pack surged with seven straight points to cut the CMU lead to five. By the end of the quarter, the Pack trimmed that lead to three, but still trailed 36-33 at halftime.

Even though they were down at the break, the Pack made 57.7 (15-of-26) from the field in the first half. Molly Rohrer (Fr., Greenwood Village, Colo.) added nine points for the Pack in the opening 20 minutes.

Rohrer finished the night with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists. She sank 7-of-11 from the field and swatted a CMU shot.

The Pack continued to claw their way back. At the 2:53 mark of the third, a pair of Anderson free throws gave the ThunderWolves their first lead since the final two minutes of the first quarter. Anderson's swishes from the line were part of a 9-0 run that gave the Pack a 49-44 lead.

CSU-Pueblo would not trail again as they outscored CMU 21-11 in the fourth quarter. This second half surge led the Pack to a 70-59 win. Anderson scored 10 of 17 points in the second half. After shooting just one free throw in the first half, the Pack had 23 attempts from the line in the second as their ability to drive forced Colorado Mesa to send them to the charity stripe.

CMU shot just 27.6 percent from the field in the second half as the Pack's defense clamped down.  After the Mavericks hit eight 3-pointers on 14 attempts in the first half (57.1 percent), the Pack shut down the deep ball limiting CMU to 29.4 (5-of-17)percent from downtown in the second half.
