PUEBLO, Colo. (April 24, 2015) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's and women's tennis teams went undefeated on day one of the 2015 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournaments Friday, which was suspended due to rain.
CSU-Pueblo is serving as hosts for the tournaments at the Pueblo City Park. Play was suspended after a hard rain rolling through Pueblo soaked the courts to force the tournament to be pushed back to Saturday.
On the women's side, the No. 3 seeded ThunderWolves were leading No. 2 seeded Colorado Mesa University 4-2 in a semifinal match with three matches remaining when the play stopped. The women downed No. 6 seed Colorado Christian University 5-0, earning the right to continue on to the semifinals against Colorado Mesa.
The pair of Maya/Trevithick earned one of three doubles victories for the Pack, winning 8-5 at the No. 1 position against CCU. The pair accounts for the team's most dual wins (13).
Toni Alvarez (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Sarah Coy (So., Pueblo West, Colo.) stuck out in a battle at No. 2 doubles, winning 9-7 while Hosomi and Haro defended the Pack at No. 3 doubles with an 8-4 victory.
