Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 14, 2015) ~ The No. 13/14-ranked Colorado State University-Pueblo baseball team swept a nonconference doubleheader from visiting Adams State University Tuesday at Rawlings Field. The ThunderWolves won game one, 9-5, before rolling to a 15-1 victory in game two.

With the two wins, CSU-Pueblo improves to 30-8 overall and reaches the 30-win plateau for the third time in the last four seasons. The Grizzlies drop to 14-23 on the season.

In game one, the Pack tallied nine runs on 12 hits, while Adams State notched five runs on nine hits. Both teams committed one error and left 10 runners on base.

Making his first start of the season, the ThunderWolves' Tyler Rich (Jr., Colton, Calif.) didn't allow a run, while striking out six en route to his third win of the year. Bodacious Ball (Sr., Canon City, Colo.), Chris Gimenez (Jr., Valencia, Calif.) and Jake Busch (Sr., Frankfurt, Ill.) all tossed one scoreless inning apiece out of the bullpen.

Anthony Parise was saddled with the loss after allowing seven runs on seven hits in two innings of work for the Grizzlies.

Offensively, nine different players recorded a hit for CSU-Pueblo, including two each from Jordan Godman (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.), Lawrence Chavez (Sr., Estancia, N.M.) and Daniel Vigil (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.). Chavez went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored. Vigil also drove in two runs. Mike Wagner (Sr., Golden, Colo.) led the team with three RBIs, two of which came off of his team-leading fourth home run of the season. Dominick Bregar (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Manny Menocal (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) both tallied a pair of runs for the Pack.

The ThunderWolves took the early lead in their third at-bat of the first inning. With one out and Bregar at first base, Wagner blasted a 1-2 pitch over the wall in left field for a two-run home run. Later in the inning, Chavez singled through the left side of the infield to plate Menocal. Chavez then came around to score on a double by Shane Richins (Sr., Heber, Utah), giving the Pack a 4-0 lead after one inning of play.

CSU-Pueblo added to its lead in the second inning. Menocal delivered a two-out RBI single, before Chavez knocked in two with a base knock to right field to extend the home team's lead to 7-0.

The score remained 7-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out and the bases loaded, Vigil singled up the middle to score a pair of runs and give the Pack a 9-0 lead.

Adams State broke up the shutout with five runs in the top of the seventh to make the final score 9-5 in favor of CSU-Pueblo.

In the night cap, the ThunderWolves outhit the Grizzlies, 13-4, and committed two errors to the visitors' five. The Pack left six runners on base, while Adams State stranded three.

Six different CSU-Pueblo pitchers combined to hold Adams State to just one run on four hits, while not walking a single batter. Ricky Casler (Sr., Vail, Ariz.) picked up the win out of the bullpen. The left hander gave up no runs and just one hit to improve to 1-0 on the year.

Adams State's Tom Aramovich suffered the loss after lasting just 2/3 of an inning and giving up eight runs on four hits and walking four.

Austin Mascorro (Sr., Oxnard, Calif.) led the way at the plate for the Pack, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Nine other players notched one hit each. Both Jake Berg-Rosenblatt (Jr., Los Angeles, Calif.) and Gavin Brady (Jr., Golden, Colo.) drove in two runs. Richins, Shane Fessel (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) and Francis Griffin (Jr., Oakland, Calif.) each crossed the plate twice.

The Grizzlies scored a run in the top of the first inning to take the early lead, but that was quickly forgotten as the ThunderWolves exploded for nine runs in their half of the frame. Beau Cebulski (Jr., Las Animas, Colo.), Brady, Mascorro and Bregar all had RBI hits in the inning, while Griffin drove in a run via a bases-loaded walk. In total, CSU-Pueblo sent 13 men to the plate in the inning.

CSU-Pueblo put up its second crooked-number of the game in the fifth inning. The frame was highlighted by a two-run double by Berg-Rosenblatt and a run-scoring double by Chris Ramsey (Sr., Westminster, Colo.). Mascorro, JJ Ortiz (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Fessel drove in a run each to round out the scoring in the inning for the Pack.

After a hit in the third inning, Adams State didn't reach base the remainder of the game as Ryan Masterson (Sr., Albany, Calif.), Kevin Megyeri (R-So., Colorado Springs, Colo.), Gimenez and Thomas Bevington (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) each pitched perfect innings to close out the 15-1 victory for the ThunderWolves.

Next up, CSU-Pueblo opens a two-week road trip this weekend in Denver against Regis University. The four-game series against the Rangers begins Friday at 3 p.m.
