PUEBLO, Colo. (April 10, 2015) ~ The No. 8/13 Colorado State University-Pueblo baseball squad earned a 4-3 victory over Colorado School of Mines Friday in front of 3,610 fans in the 11th annual Pack the Park game at Hobbs Field.

The victory gets the ThunderWolves back in the win column after back-to-back losses and improves their record to 27-6 overall and 19-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contests. The Orediggers drop to 10-18 overall, including a 5-16 mark in league games.

For the game, the Pack finished with four runs on eight hits, they committed one error and left eight runners on base. Colorado Mines tallied three runs on nine hits with one error and 11 runners left aboard.

CSU-Pueblo starter Zac Wittmus (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) picked up the victory to improve to 5-1 on the season. The right hander went 6 1/3 innings and gave up just one run on six hits, walked three and struck out six. Wyndam Williams (Sr., Golden, Colo.) earned his seventh save of the season despite giving up two runs on three hits in the ninth inning.

Manny Menocal (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) and Lawrence Chavez (Sr., Estancia, N.M.) led the ThunderWolves with two hits each. Dominick Bregar (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) tallied a hit and two RBIs.

The Orediggers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Logan Smith reached on an error to lead off the frame and later came around to score on a single by Connor Lambert.

After the run in the top of the first for Colorado Mines, Wittmus settled in and gave up just five hits and no runs in his final 5 1/3 innings.

Orediggers' starter Matt Martin matched Wittmus through the first five innings, limiting the potent ThunderWolves' offense to just two hits.

The Pack finally broke through against Martin in the home half of the sixth inning. The No. 9 hitter Daniel Vigil (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) led off the inning with a single through the right side and then moved up to second when Jordan Godman (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) was hit by a pitch. Shane Richins (Sr., Heber, Utah) followed with a sacrifice bunt, moving Vigil and Godman to second and third base, respectively. With runners in scoring position and one out, Bregar roped a line-drive double off of the wall in right-center field to plate a pair of runs. Two batters later, Menocal ripped a single up the middle to score Bregar and give CSU-Pueblo a 3-1 lead.

The ThunderWolves pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth to push their advantage to 4-1 heading to the ninth inning.

Colorado Mines made it interesting in their final at bat. The Orediggers worked two runs across, but Williams was able to strand the tying run at third base to preserve the 4-3 victory.
