ST. CHARLES, Mo. (March 8, 2015)- The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's lacrosse team finished its two game road trip Sunday afternoon with a 25-1 loss to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Lindenwood University.
With the defeat, the ThunderWolves fall to 0-2 (0-1 RMAC) in the young lacrosse season, while the more experienced Lions improve to 3-0 (2-0 RMAC.)
Freshman Allye Webb (M, Colorado Springs, Colo.) had CSU-Pueblo's lone goal, her second straight game tallying a goal, to up her season total to two. She accounted for three of the four ThunderWolves' shots, two of which were on goal. Nicole Burkhauser (0-2) (F., G, Auburn, Wash.) accumulated seven saves in between the pipes for the Pack.
Lindenwood's Melissa Menchella had a game-high five goals in the contest, while Sophie Buelow (4), Cassie Stucklen (3), and Leah Neumann (3) all notched three or more goals. 12 players in total had at least one goal for the Lions.
Turnovers hurt the ThunderWolves, as they had 19 giveaways versus the Lions' eight. Lindenwood outshot the Pack 35-4 (7-1 FPS) and had the advantage in draw-controls 24-4.
The Lions pounced on CSU-Pueblo early, opening the first 8:26 of the match on a 11-0 run. Webb scored the teams only goal 10:52 into the contest, from there it was all Lindenwood, as they outscored the Pack 14-0 the final 43:15 of the game.
CSU-Pueblo will travel back home and play its first home game Wednesday against Wittenberg, part of a five game home-stand that will stretch from March 11-20.
