Gunnels, Sophia Rinn Named First-Team Women's Lacrosse Academic All-RMAC, Three Others Named to Honor Roll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo women's lacrosse had two players named to the First-Team Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference that was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

The two ThunderWolves named to the Women's Lacrosse First-Team Academic All-RMAC Team were sophomore midfielder Sydney Gunnels (Dallas, Texas/Coppell) and junior midfielder Sophia Rinn (Eagle, Colo./Eagle Valley).

Gunnels and Rinn their first career First-Team All-RMAC Academic Team honor and Gunnels is one of six student-athletes on the first team with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA. In fact, Gunnels and Rinn are just the third and fourth Pack players to ever earn First-Team Academic All-RMAC honors in women's lacrosse since the program began in 2015.

The other two previous First-Team Academic All-RMAC performers in women's lacrosse were Allison Wurscher in 2019 and Sedona Sargent, who was a three-time first team selection in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

To be eligible for First-Team All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.50 or above cumulative grade point average and must have been an active student-athlete at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.

First-Team All-Academic members were voted on by the conference's Sports Information Directors and student-athletes not voted onto the first team, and who carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average automatically qualify for the Honor Roll. The SID's weren't allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.

In addition to the two First-Team All-Academic selections, the Pack had three additional Honor Roll selections and those players named to the Honor Roll were senior defender Audrey Allendorf (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls), junior attacker Clara Drinkwater (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) and junior midfielder Reese Wasmund (Portland, Ore./West Linn).

Regis led the way with four first team selections, while Colorado Mesa was next with three first team honorees. CSU Pueblo and UCCS each had two players selected, while Fort Lewis and Westminster had one player selected to the first team. Regis' graduate student goalie Brigit Goetsch was named the RMAC Women's Lacrosse Academic Player of the Year.

Gunnels, who carries a 4.0 cumulative GPA as an undeclared major, earns her First-Team Academic All-RMAC honor after recording 27 goals, 11 assists, 38 points, and 61 shots, including 46 shots on goal. In addition, she led the team with 11 free position shots, which is fourth on the school's single-season chart and added 30 ground balls, 29 draws and 17 caused turnovers. She scored three goals each in six games and picked up two or more ground balls in eight games, including a career-high seven in the second game this season at Southern Wesleyan.

Rinn, who carries a 3.88 cumulative GPA in nursing, earns her First-Team Academic All-RMAC accolade after tallying 20 goals and six assists for 26 points in all 16 games this season for the Pack. In addition, she took 43 shots, including 36 shots on goal and had 20 ground balls, one draw and five caused turnovers. In her three-year career with the Pack, she played in 45 games and scored 40 goals, had 13 assists, 53 points, 43 ground balls, eight draws and scored seven career man-up goals, which is tied for 10th on the school's all-time list.

Here is a list of the Pack women's lacrosse players (Gunnels and Rinn are included in this list) named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll for the 2026 season.

Audrey Allendorf, 3.73 GPA / Nursing
Clara Drinkwater, 3.33 GPA / Health Sciences
Reese Wasmund, 3.64 GPA / Criminology

Allendorf has now been a three-time selection to the honor roll, while Wasmund and Rinn earn their second straight honor roll selections.

Colorado Mesa led the way with 20 honor selections, while Westminster was next with 16 selections and UCCS was third with 12 selections. Regis had 10 honor selections, while Fort Lewis had eight selections and CSU Pueblo had five selections.
