Box Score

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 20, 2015) ~ Austin Mascorro's (Sr., Oxnard, Calif.) walk-off base hit in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Colorado State University-Pueblo baseball team a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over visiting Metro State University of Denver Friday at Rawlings Field.

The win extends the ThunderWolves' winning streak to eight games, marking their longest stretch of victories since winning eight in a row April 28-May 11, 2013. The Pack improve their record to 18-3 overall and 10-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contests. They also up their home record to 14-3. The Roadrunners drop to 9-9 overall and 4-5 in league tilts.

Wyndam Williams (Sr., Golden, Colo.) pitched a scoreless ninth inning out of the bullpen to earn the win and improve to 2-1 on the year. Pack starter Zac Wittmus (Sr., Brighton, Colo.) turned in a quality start, recording 6 2/3 innings pitched, while giving up two runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out seven.

Josh Moore suffered the loss for the Roadrunners out of the bullpen to fall to 0-2. MSU Denver starter Kris Lalk went 8.0 innings, gave up seven hits and two runs (one earned), walked two and struck out nine.

Both teams finished the game with eight hits. The ThunderWolves fielded a clean game, but MSU Denver committed three errors which led to two unearned runs for CSU-Pueblo.

The Pack were led at the plate by lead-off hitter Jordan Godman (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.), who went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. The junior added two stolen bases to extend his RMAC-leading total to 17. Mascorro tallied two hits, while Mike Wagner (Sr., Golden, Colo.) launched his team-leading third home run of the season.

CSU-Pueblo jumped on the scoreboard first, tallying an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning. Godman reached on an error to lead off the inning. The center fielder stole second base and then moved up to third on a single by Mascorro. Dominick Bregar (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) followed with a ground out to second to drive in Godman with the game's first run.

The Roadrunners tied the game in the fourth and took the lead on a solo home run by Darryl Baca in the top of the sixth inning.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, Wagner tied the game with one big swing of the bat. The senior blasted a solo shot over the left field wall with one out in the inning to even the game at 2-2.

Williams worked out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the ninth inning to keep the score tied at 2-2 and set up the dramatic walk-off victory.

Shane Richins (Sr., Heber, Utah) reached on a throwing error by the second baseman Nick Comito to lead off the bottom of the ninth frame. Chris Ramsey (Sr., Westminster, Colo.) advanced Richins to second with a sacrifice bunt. Pinch hitter Shane Fessel (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) reached on another error by Comito to put runners at the corners with nobody out. The Roadrunners intentionally walked Godman to load the bases, setting up Mascorro's walk-off single to right field.
