Nehf named to Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association South Central All-Region Team

DENVER, Colo. (March 12, 2015) – Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball senior Katie Nehf (Sr., Broomfield, Colo.) collected another postseason honor Friday, garnering a spot on the Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association South Central All-Region Second Team.

Nehf becomes just the third player in program history and first since Rachel Espinoza in the 2009-10 season to earn Daktronics all-region accolades. Espinoza was a first-team selection, while Nadi Fercha was voted to the second team in 2002-03.

In addition to the all-region award, Nehf was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The senior also earned a spot on the all-conference first team, all-academic first team and RMAC Shootout All-Tournament squad.

Nehf ranks in the top-10 in the RMAC in rebounds, blocks, steals and assists per game. Nehf is fifth in the RMAC in rebounds (6.9 rpg.), first in blocks (2.0 bpg.), sixth in steals (1.9 spg.) and ninth in asssits (2.9). The Broomfield, Colo., native is 18th in scoring (11.7 ppg.).

Nehf ranks as the all-time leader in program history in blocks with 196. Her 59 blocks this season is good for third on the single-season listing. She also ranks fifth in career rebounds (723), sixth in career steals (195), 15th in career points (968) and 10th in career assists (238).

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II South Central Region schools and conferences selected the two Daktronics all-region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced later in the month.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).

The ThunderWolves will take part in the NCAA Tournament South Central Regional at the First United Bank Center on the campus of West Texas A&M University Friday. The No. 7 seed Pack square off against No. 2 seed and RMAC rival University of Colorado Colorado Springs at 1:30 p.m. (MDT) in the quarterfinal round.
