Women's and men's tennis battle Air Force Sunday and Monday

PUEBLO, Colo. (Feb. 28, 2015) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's and women's tennis teams are back on the grind after a few weeks off. The teams are scheduled to take on Air Force Academy March 1-2 for nonconference matches versus the Division I opponent.

The women face a 5-2 Falcon team at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, while the men are set to face a 5-2-1 Falcon team at 2 p.m. Monday.

The Pack men are currently 0-2 on the road, while the women are 1-2 on the road.

Playing at No. 1 doubles, Patricia Maya (Fr., San Luis Potos, Mexico) and Brooke Trevithick (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) hold a 7-6 record, accounting for the team's most dual wins (7-3) 

Mariana Hosami (Jr., Sao Paulo, Brazil) holds the highest record for singles, 10-2 overall and 7-2 duals. The Pack women have a 50% success rate in singles.

Freshman Steven Alcala (Pueblo, Colo.) was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week Thursday after he went 8-0 on a early spring trip to Arizona Feb. 13-14. He went 4-0 at No. 4 singles and in those victories, lost just 11 sets. Playing with Luke Lipinski at No. 2 doubles, the pair went 4-0 on the weekend.

As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Colorado State University – Pueblo competes in 22 varsity sports in NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics.
